Dragon Genesis: I Can Create Dragons

Chapter 589: We aren’t going to lose this war.

Chapter 589: We aren’t going to lose this war.

The recording ended and the entire area turned dead silent. The Borealis Warriors stared at Kael with wary looks on their faces, they gripped their weapons but as they did, one single question remained in their heads—

Would it even matter...?

Would their weapons even do anything...?

This man...

No, this monster went to the Stormcallers Settlement alone and brought it to ruins... alone.

And the Stormcalllers were clearly stronger than Borealis, even before they had all those resources that they now had, which had made them even stronger and despite all that—

This man destroyed them, he ruined their lands, killed their people, disrespected and destroyed their holy site and... there was nothing they could do to stop him.

Even at the very end, this man did not run away, no, the Stormcallers did not dare to chase him.

If he could do all that to the Stormcallers alone, if he could summon that storm, control it however he liked, and kill using that—

What would their weapons even do?

Before they could even reach him, their bodies would be turned into black charcoal by the lightning bolts, it was... hopeless.

Why was such a man even here?

What reason did he have for him to ask for their help?

Of course, Kael conveniently kept hidden the fact that the only reason he was as strong as he was, was because the weather at the Stormcaller settlement supported him.

They did not have to know that, at least not now.

"Is this... real?"

The Borealis Leader muttered, his shock and disbelief was clear on his face, but this time, he didn’t look at Kael with suspicion, he now looked at him with... wariness.

"You can talk to the Stormcallers right now, I am sure they must have left a way for you to do that, no?

Though I doubt they will tell you the truth, this isn’t something they would announce to the entirety of the Heights, not when war is upon us and they need other tribes to join them."

Kael answered directly.

"Then you have no way to prove it."

The Borealis Leader commented.

Honestly, he wanted to believe that Kael was lying rather than believe all of this was true. Because if what he saw was indeed true, then the Heights... now had a man capable of far stronger destruction than anything or anyone they had seen in the past.

But things don’t usually play out as one wishes they would.

And this time was the same as well.

"Well, I do have a way."

Kael nodded after thinking about it a little, then, he replayed the recording and paused it at the moment where he was holding Zoraa, one of the Stormcaller Chiefs. It was something that wasn’t shown to the Velmourns and Stonefangs, only a select few knew about it and were told to remain silent.

"Do you know who she is?"

Kael asked.

"The Stormcaller Chief."

The Borealis Leader nodded with a difficult look on his face.

"That is good."

Kael nodded, then, he took out another crystal from his Sanctuary, this one was different from the recording crystal. It was a communication crystal, different from the one mostly used in the Heights.

This one allowed a video call.

Kael activated it and contacted someone, and the moment the call connected, a screen appeared in the air and it showed Korvath.

"This is Korvath Velmourn, the Commander of the Velmourn Army."

Kael introduced.

"I know him."

The Borealis Leader nodded, looking at Korvath with a solemn look on his face. Korvath looked back at him, for a moment, the Borealis Leader thought he was a still image, but the moment Korvath moved to adjust his armor and—

[Yes, we have... met when the Borealis attacked our party.]

He spoke.

The Borealis Leader blinked at that, the image spoke.

It surprised him, his mind was having a difficult time comprehending the fact that it was possible to see someone while contacting them using artifacts.

"This isn’t the time to bring up the past. Everyone did what was necessary at that moment, Commander Korvath."

Kael spoke lightly.

[I know that.]

Korvath nodded and didn’t react too much. Even if he wanted to win the war, getting over his deeply ingrained hatred for these tribes was... difficult, even for him, who very clearly understood what was at stake here.

Kael nodded back, then, he looked at the Borealis Leader for a moment before turning back towards Korvath and—

"Can you bring us to... her?"

He requested.

Korvath understood what he meant and he nodded. Five minutes later, Korvath was standing inside a prison and in front of him was... one of the Stormcaller Chiefs, kneeling on the ground, with her hands chained above. Her eyes seemed dead, she did not show any reaction when she saw Korvath because at this point, she understood that the Commander of the Velmourn Army no longer had the power to make decisions.

However, the moment her eyes fell on the hovering screen that followed Korvath and she saw Kael there, a strange light shined in her eyes.

Unlike the Borealis Leader, she didn’t need time to realize this was a call, she understood it instantly because she had seen something like this back in the Stormcaller Tribe where the ’outsiders’ distributed those fancy artifacts to them.

[To think you would come see me in this manner.]

She spoke, looking right at Kael, she didn’t even acknowledge Korvath’s existence, she was treating him like an errand boy for the Storm God.

And Korvath—

He didn’t mind it.

He didn’t care.

To him, his position in the eyes of others did not matter, Kael was someone he respected, and with the number of things Kael had done for their people, the last thing he would be offended by is someone treating him like Kael’s errand boy.

Because if all it took for his people to live a good, healthy life where they wouldn’t have to sleep with empty stomachs and die of starvation once their bodies were no longer able to hold on, was for him to become Kael’s errand boy, he had no problems with that.

He would accept that position with great pride.

"I did not know you wished to talk to me."

Kael answered as he looked at Zoraa.

[There is something I wish to say.]

"This isn’t the time, I will come visit you once I return."

[You aren’t here...?]

Zoraa frowned.

Of course, normally, she would have seen this as an opportunity, but with her Sanctuary sealed, there was no way she could escape.

"You don’t get to ask questions.

You will only answer mine."

Kael commanded.

[As you say.]

Zoraa simply lowered her head, there was no point in resisting him, she had learned that long ago.

Kael then stepped back and showed the Borealis Leader.

"Do you recognize him?"

He asked.

Zoraa raised her head again and glanced at the Borealis Leader, and the instant she did, she paused.

She didn’t need a long time to understand what Kael was trying to do. He was... trying to use her to recruit more people, who would later be used in war against her own people...

Zoraa stared at Kael for a good moment, she thought about what he had done before, the destruction he had caused before, the destruction he is capable of causing again, she had thought about it for a long, long time—

She had thought about her people, she had thought about how many of them had perished when this man attacked them—

Then she thought about how... her own people had tried to kill her.

And inside a small room, with next to no light, with her limbs chained, her body barely having room to breathe—

Such thoughts... only became stronger.

The memory of her own people trying to kill her became more and more vivid in her head, and it fed her thoughts that... a chief of a tribe should not have.

But...

It wasn’t something Zoraa could resist, and she wasn’t planning to resist him either.

[I do.]

She nodded as she looked at the Borealis Leader again.

[We fought when I raided his land.]

The Borealis Leader clenched his fists as that memory freshened up. It wasn’t a fond memory, not one bit.

"Good."

Kael, on the other hand, nodded.

"Tell him what happened to the Stormcaller Settlement yesterday, and what their current situation is."

He commanded. Zoraa thought about it for a moment, once again, the memory of her people trying to kill her resurfaced in her head, then, the memory of Aurelia walking freely despite being a prisoner appeared and she—

She decided to curry favor with Kael and did exactly what he told her to.

"You attacked us..."

She started the story, everything played out exactly as it was shown in the recording, just from Zoraa’s perspective.

She told what she saw, the death and destruction, then she estimated the Stormcaller settlement’s current situation and how they must be trying to recover from the attack and once it was all confirmed from one of the enemy chiefs herself, the Borealis Leader had no choice but to believe him.

He looked at Kael with a complicated look on his face and Kael—

"We aren’t going to lose this war.

And I hope you join the winning side."
