Chapter 352 My heart sank to the bottom
As he spoke, he raised his glass and was about to pour it on Chu Tian's head. Chu Tian was quick-witted and grabbed his wrist and twisted it hard. The yellow-haired man felt pain and the glass in his hand fell to the ground and shattered.
"You dare to hit me?!" the yellow-haired man roared, swinging his fist and hitting Chu Tian. Chu Tian dodged sideways, grabbed his arm with his backhand, and threw him to the ground with an over-the-shoulder throw.
The people around them were in an uproar. Some cheered, some made a noise, and some advised them to stop fighting. The bar security also rushed over and pulled the two apart.
"What's going on?" asked a burly security guard.
The yellow-haired man pointed at Chu Tian and complained first, "This kid hit me!"
Chu Tian snorted coldly, "He was the one who harassed me first."
The security guard looked at the two men, then at the people watching the excitement, and roughly understood what had happened. He turned to the yellow-haired man and said, "Sir, this is a public place, please be careful about your words and actions. If you cause trouble again, we will have to ask you to leave."
Although the yellow-haired man was arrogant and domineering, he also knew that the bar's security was not easy to mess with. He had to shut his mouth in disappointment, rub his sore butt, and leave in shame.
Chu Tian also returned to his job and continued to serve wine and water. He knew that this was just the beginning, and similar things would happen again in such an environment.
After the bar closed, Chu Tian dragged his tired body back to the rental house. Lin Wei had already fallen asleep, curled up on the bed like a frightened kitten. Chu Tian walked gently to the bedside, looking at her sleeping face, his heart full of pity.
He took off his uniform that was stained with wine and cigarettes, put on clean clothes, and then lay down next to Lin Wei. Lin Wei seemed to sense his presence, opened her eyes dazedly, and saw that it was Chu Tian, she smiled faintly.
"Are you back?" she asked softly.
"Yeah." Chu Tian held her in his arms, "Go to sleep."
Lin Wei snuggled in his arms, feeling his warm body temperature, and gradually fell asleep again. But Chu Tian couldn't fall asleep. He opened his eyes, staring at the ceiling, with a lot of thoughts in his mind.
He knew that working in a bar was not a long-term solution, and he had to find a better job as soon as possible to give Lin Wei a stable life. However, in this strange city, he had a hard time and his future was bleak.
Suddenly, a rapid knock on the door broke the tranquility of the night. Chu Tian and Lin Wei were both awakened.
"Who is it?" Chu Tian asked vigilantly.
"Open the door! Police!" A rough voice came from outside the door.
Chu Tian and Lin Wei looked at each other, and both had an ominous premonition in their hearts...
Chu Tian's heart sank suddenly, and a chill ran from his feet to his head. Police? How could it be the police? He tried to keep himself calm, took a deep breath, and opened the door.
There were two uniformed policemen standing outside the door, one of them was burly and had a serious face, while the other was relatively young and a little immature. The burly policeman held a baton in his hand and glanced at Chu Tian and Lin Wei with sharp eyes.
"Chu Tian?" asked the burly policeman.
"It's me." Chu Tian answered as calmly as possible.
"We are from the Municipal Public Security Bureau. Someone has reported that you are suspected of intentional injury. Please come with us." The burly policeman said in a cold tone, leaving no room for doubt.
Chu Tian was stunned. Intentional injury? The image of the yellow-haired man in the bar immediately appeared in his mind. Could it be him?
"Comrade police, is there any misunderstanding?" Chu Tian tried to explain, "That person harassed me first, so I..."
"If you have anything to say, let's talk at the police station." The burly policeman interrupted him and winked at the young policeman.
The young policeman stepped forward, took out handcuffs, and was about to handcuff Chu Tian.
"Wait a minute!" Lin Wei suddenly rushed out and stood in front of Chu Tian. "Why did you arrest him? He didn't do anything!"
Lin Wei's voice trembled a little, but her eyes were firm and she looked at the burly policeman without fear.
"Miss, please cooperate with our work." The burly policeman frowned, "If you interfere with public duties, we have the right to take coercive measures against you."
"You guys..." Lin Wei wanted to say something, but was stopped by Chu Tian.
"Weiwei, stop talking." Chu Tian patted her hands gently, signaling her to calm down, "I'll go with them, it's okay."
He turned to the police and said, "Comrade police, I can go with you, but I hope you can guarantee my safety."
The burly policeman snorted coldly, said nothing, and signaled the young policeman to handcuff Chu Tian.
When the cold metal touched the skin of his wrist, Chu Tian's heart sank to the bottom. He glanced at Lin Wei, his eyes full of worry and reluctance.
Lin Wei's tears welled up in her eyes, and she held Chu Tian's hand tightly, as if she wanted to keep him.
"Chu Tian..." She choked and couldn't speak.
"Don't worry, I'll be back soon." Chu Tian suppressed the sadness in his heart and gave her a reassuring smile.
Then he followed the two policemen out of the rental house and disappeared into the night.
Lin Wei sat on the ground helplessly, tears rolling down like pearls from a broken string. She didn't know what happened, nor when Chu Tian would come back. She only knew that she was afraid, she was afraid of losing Chu Tian.
The rental house was empty, with only Lin Wei left, facing endless darkness and fear alone.
……
In the interrogation room of the police station, the lights were dim and the atmosphere was depressing.
Chu Tian sat on a cold iron chair, his hands handcuffed on the table. Opposite him sat a burly policeman, holding a folder in his hand and looking through the information inside.
"Name?" the burly policeman asked without even looking up.
"Chu Tian."
"age?"
"25."
"Profession?"
"Bartender."
The burly policeman raised his head and stared at Chu Tian with sharp eyes, "Tell me, what happened?"
Chu Tian took a deep breath and recounted everything that happened in the bar. Of course, he concealed Lin Wei's existence because he didn't want to involve her.
After listening to this, the burly policeman sneered, "So, you were acting in self-defense?"
"Isn't it?" Chu Tian asked back, "That person was the first to attack, I was just protecting myself."
"Protect yourself?" The burly policeman asked sarcastically, "You beat someone up and seriously injured him. Is this what you call protecting yourself?"
Chu Tian was shocked. Seriously injured? He didn't expect that the yellow-haired man was so seriously injured.
"Comrade police officer, I didn't know he was injured so badly..." Chu Tian tried to explain.
"I don't know?" The burly policeman interrupted him. "The hospital's diagnosis report is out. Multiple fractures and internal bleeding. What else do you have to say?"
Chu Tian was suddenly speechless. He didn't know what to say. He felt like he had fallen into a trap, a carefully designed trap.
"Now, there are two options before you." The burly policeman said in a cold tone, "One is to settle the matter privately and compensate the other party for medical expenses and mental damages. The other is to go through legal procedures. The crime of intentional injury will cost you at least three years."
