Chapter 2652 Stealing The Heart Of A Shopkeeper
Some of the people dashed off to verify Lin Mu's background, while others prepared to inform their respective clans and sects.
Meanwhile, the man who had been shadowing Lin Mu frowned in confusion. He had expected some shocking revelation, but instead, the information left him more uncertain than before.
'Looks like I'll have to get the sect's intelligence division to dig deeper,' he sighed before slipping away amidst the uproar.
By then, Lin Mu was already long gone, utterly oblivious to the commotion he had stirred within the city. Not that it mattered to him. He had merely defended himself from an unprovoked attack. If rumors spread, so be it.
Lin Mu had already gotten used to them long ago, and since he wasn't on this world for long, it didn't matter either way.
The man went a bit farther away from the library, not wanting to be interrupted by the others if they chose to return.
'I might have to speed up... I don't think they'll be backing down that easily,' Lin Mu thought to himself.
As such, he went to a couple of book houses similar to Doumen's Book House that sold tea and had books to read at leisure. He knew that he wouldn't find many new books there; as such, transcribing them shouldn't take long.
He simply paid extra for the tea there and scanned all the books with his immortal sense. And sure enough, the majority of them were books he had already read or recorded, and the rest were either different versions of previous books.
Though there were still a handful of new books that he quickly transcribed before moving on.
Like this, he went through ten book houses in just a day before moving on to the book shops.
This was where the true treasure hoard could be found.
"Ah, welcome, customer. What would you like to see?" the shopkeeper greeted him enthusiastically.
At first, Lin Mu wondered if he had recognized him or something, but he had already switched to different robes to avoid being identified easily.
"You look rather noble. We have some new high-quality techniques that just arrived yesterday," the shopkeeper added. @@@@
"Sorry?" The shopkeeper paused, thinking that he had heard it wrong.
"I want all of them," Lin Mu reiterated.
"A-All? All of them!?" The shopkeeper's expression went through an array of emotions before finally settling on utter excitement. "OF COURSE! YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL!" he exclaimed, gold coins shining in his eyes.
"Jun Yi, Jun Er, Jun San! WHERE ARE YOU BASTARDS? QUICKLY FETCH EVERYTHING!" the shopkeeper roared, as if afraid that Lin Mu would leave before buying or change his mind.
'Haha! With this one sale, we've finished more than our quarterly sales quota! The mistress of fortune is smiling upon us today!' the shopkeeper thought. 'This week's shopkeeper meeting is going to be fun. Let's see if anyone can beat me this time! Old Cai and Old Fu are going to lose the bet!' He was extremely happy and was almost jumping with joy.
If not for the fact that there was a customer in front of him and he had to follow etiquette, he would've already bounced around laughing.
The shop servants were surprised at first, but upon seeing the order size, they moved quickly.
Within five minutes, everything had been gathered, and a spatial storage pouch was delivered to the front desk.
"Please take a look," the shopkeeper requested. "The storage pouch is complementary." Even the miser was generous when such a big fortune was delivered to his doorstep.
Lin Mu did a quick scan with his immortal sense and found it to be correct.
THUD THUD THUD
"Here you go." Lin Mu dumped a pile of immortal stones on the table, making the jaws of other customers drop in shock.
Most of them had never seen so many immortal stones together and were wondering if they were dreaming. There were so many that they were spilling down from both sides of the table!
"We're very pleased to do business with you, honored sir. Please come again if you wish to buy more. I'll restock new manuals as soon as I can," the shopkeeper beamed.
He didn't know who Lin Mu was or why he wanted so many techniques in bulk, but he didn't care when so many immortal stones were on the line.
If he could do such a transaction a couple more times, he would have enough to shut the shop for a couple of years and go on a long vacation.
