Chapter 863: Five Minutes [GT Ranking Bonus - ]
With that, both of them vanished from their seats as they streaked towards the battlefield. They landed with deft ease as they waited for the signal to commence the battle.Hilton stared at Finch with a smirk. He already knew that Finch was Asher’s friend, and since he couldn’t touch Asher, he might as well beat up Asher’s friend. This was his own form of retaliation, and he was going to enjoy it. But first, he would start by humiliating the boy.
"Begin."
Thomasinho’s voice echoed from above as he gave the signal.
Neither Finch nor Hilton Zarik rushed towards the other. They simply stared into each other’s eyes in silence, as though waiting to see who would make the first move.
Seeing Finch neither speak nor move, Hilton simply assumed that Finch understood the difference in strength between them as he began to speak. "If you kneel with your forehead touching the ground, I might just end your misery quickly," he said, his tone arrogant.
Finch arched an eyebrow, wondering where this idiot got off acting so high and mighty.
Seeing that Finch didn’t reply, he continued, "We all know you got to this point through sheer luck. You are just way too weak to fight me, so kneel while I’m being nice, or I might not give you the opportunity to surrender," his eyes and tone condescending, as though he were speaking to some lower lifeform.
But Finch still remained silent, unbothered by whatever the fool was saying. He simply waited for the guy to make the opening move, nothing more.
Hilton frowned as he saw that Finch wasn’t even reacting to his words, his voice echoing once again as he spoke. "Fools these days can’t even recognise mercy when it’s being given to them on a silver pla—"
Before Hilton could finish his arrogant speech, a voice came from one of the spectator stands as a man spoke in a berating tone.
"Hey, fucker, this isn’t one of those useless power trips you have with commoners. If you plan to defeat him with just your words, then quit while you’re ahead and go become a scholar or mediator."
If it were possible to throw rotten eggs, tomatoes, and stones at this moment, people definitely would. They had expected peak entertainment from the very start, only for this idiot to put on airs.
Hilton’s lips twitched with anger as things didn’t go according to his plan. He planned to find the fool who had spoken after the tournament and teach him a lesson.
With that, his Astra Energy surged through his veins as he activated the Zarik Family Bloodline Ability; Liquid Silver Metal.
Without missing a beat, he created dozens of silver metallic weapon constructs and launched them at tremendous speed while expertly avoiding Finch’s vital organs and critical points. After all, he couldn’t afford to defeat Finch so easily; he planned to torture him.
Finch didn’t move. Just as the attacks were about to land, they were immediately deflected to the side by an unseen force, each silver weapon embedding itself into the various jagged rocky pillars.
Hilton wondered what had happened, but at that moment, Lior finally appeared in his Goblin form, although he wore different clothing this time. Of course, Finch had already summoned Lior right from the very beginning. He had simply allowed the Emovira to remain invisible until Hilton made his move.
Hilton’s eyes narrowed, wondering where the Goblin had come from. But before he could even blink, Lior was already in front of him, his fist crashing into Hilton’s gut with seemingly gentle force, which was still multiplied by two.
Hilton felt the pain instantly. He couldn’t even perceive the Goblin’s movement, nor had he understood how it had arrived so quickly. His body was immediately hurled backwards in a streak of motion, his back smashing through the rocky pillars. He twisted mid-air before landing on his feet, skidding backwards to a stop.
The moment his eyes snapped forward, all that filled his vision was a foot screaming towards the side of his head. He tapped into his ability, creating a silver shield at the point of impact to defend himself. But the impact never came.
Lior had recalibrated mid-motion, his leg halting midway through its swing as his fist instead sank into Hilton’s jaw. Hilton’s body shot upwards like a rocket under the force of the blow. But before he could even travel far, Lior was already there, his speed faster than anything Hilton could comprehend. He raised a foot, and with wicked force, kicked the disoriented Hilton across the temple.
Hilton, who had been moving upwards, immediately changed direction as his body tore sideways.
Hilton’s body crashed into the barrier before sliding down under the pull of gravity. He landed on his feet, and with killing intent filling his eyes, he created another barrage of attacks, this time numbering in the hundreds. Without missing a beat, he fired them towards Finch at full speed and power.
After all, if he defeated Finch, his summon would disappear too.
But Finch remained completely unbothered as he stood with both hands in his pockets. Sword Savant Lior appeared before him in a blur, his hand flashing towards his waist as he drew his katana, deflecting every single attack with immense ease. Each deflected projectile either carved a ravine into the ground or burst apart one of the towering pillars.
With that done, Lior closed the distance once more. He caught Hilton by the face, yanked him forward, then slammed his head into the barrier with wicked efficiency. Those standing on the other side of the barrier felt the shockwave from the impact brush through their bodies.
Hilton screamed in pain as he felt his skull split open. Lior simply shifted his centre of gravity before hurling him aside as though he were nothing more than a random piece of rock.
Hilton’s body slammed into the ground from the impact, every inch of him aching, blood already staining his clothes. He immediately created a silver eagle and took off into the sky as he attempted to create some distance and attack from above. Two long silver lances tore towards Finch and Lior simultaneously.
Lior didn’t bother rushing to save Finch, as he knew the boy could handle himself. Finch simply created a chain barrier with his chains and effortlessly blocked the attack, his hands never leaving his pockets.
Although Lior couldn’t fly, the leaping power of Rank 6 beings was no joke. He dipped for a brief moment before shooting into the sky like a bullet, effortlessly dodging the silver lance. A ravine tore open beneath him with explosive force due to the sheer power of his leap.
Seeing the incoming Lior, Hilton immediately controlled his silver bird to evade, barely dodging a slash from Lior’s katana.
But Lior remained completely unbothered. While still mid-air, he simply transformed into the crimson bird from the last round and immediately closed the distance between himself and Hilton. Hilton was stunned, unable to believe what he had just witnessed. But before he could even blink, Lior transformed back into a Goblin, his shapeshifting so seamless that it required virtually no time between transformations.
Without wasting even a single second, his katana blurred in a silver flash as he landed atop Hilton’s silver bird.
The sound of flesh being torn apart followed as blood splattered into the air and across the silver bird. Lior didn’t hesitate. He pressed his advantage, twisting his body as he delivered a devastating heel kick to Hilton’s jaw.
Hilton’s head snapped violently to the side, his jaw dislocating as his body plummeted towards the ground like a dying star, crashing into the earth as a small ravine split open. Dust billowed into the air as he could no longer move, his body battered by blunt force injuries and a sword wound, his silver bird dissolving into liquid metal before vanishing into the air.
The first battle of the final round had only just begun, yet it had ended in less than five minutes.
