Chapter 89 Ms. M's Injuries
Chapter 89 Ms. M's Injuries
Is the witch the culprit behind the series of deaths?
Upon hearing this answer from Ms. M, Lu Ze was startled. It wasn't just because he had obtained a clue, but also because he was currently searching for the witch—a crucial material for crafting special items.
Stay calm! Don't let her notice anything amiss!
Lu Ze shouted inwardly, suppressing his inner emotions. On the surface, he merely glanced at Ms. M and repeated with a hint of curiosity, "Witch? I think I've seen it in internal documents, an organization called the 'Witch Cult'."
"The Witch Cult, huh..."
A contemptuous smile appeared on Ms. M's face. "They're nothing but a bunch of twisted, pathetic worms."
Pathetic creature? It sounds like there's something wrong with this sect. But then again, what right do you, a mindless fanatic of an evil god, have to mock others?
Lu Ze thought to himself.
"But how can you be sure it was the witch who did it?"
He remembered the important matter at hand and took the initiative to steer the conversation in that direction.
"This method of spreading curses and taking lives is clearly a trick commonly used by witches." Ms. M smiled and glanced at him. "The technique is a bit crude; this must have been done by a newcomer who has just been promoted to witch."
"A witch?"
"Yes, the Assassin's Path Sequence 7 is called 'The Witch.' If a man takes a potion of this sequence, he will transform into a woman."
"Uh-huh?"
Lu Ze nodded subconsciously, then suddenly realized what Ms. M was talking about, and asked in a strange voice, "You mean, if a man drinks the potion, he will turn into a woman?"
He was so surprised that he almost forgot to pretend for a moment.
"Although it's only a Sequence 7 potion, it does indeed have such miraculous effects."
Ms. M said.
This is really...
Lu Ze couldn't help but pull out the portrait he had drawn using the ritual, gazing at the beautiful woman in the painting. He found it hard to believe that such a delicate young woman could have been a man before drinking the potion.
"Alright, our topic seems to have drifted a bit. Let's get back to it."
Ms. M picked up a slice of white bread, dipped it in butter with a knife, and said, "Although I don't know what she's going to do, with so many deaths, she's accumulated a lot of life force and the resentment of the dead. We need to find her quickly before she runs out of all that energy."
Lu Ze glanced at Ms. M.
"You're going to stop her plan? You're that kind of person?"
He asked bluntly.
"How is that possible?"
Ms. M smiled gently, "I just want those resentful thoughts... they're excellent materials for the ritual. It would be a waste if she used them up."
As she spoke, she took out the small black bottle again. She had given this bottle to Lu Ze before, so that he could absorb the resentment of the newly deceased.
"Go find the altar, and use it to absorb the energy, just like before..."
"Clatter".
Before Ms. M could finish speaking, her arm suddenly dislocated from her elbow and fell to the ground without warning.
"Clang..."
The small black bottle slipped from the hand on the ground and rolled away.
Lu Ze's eyes narrowed.
He saw Ms. M's complete forearm and hand lying on the ground, as white as a plaster statue. The severed arm was fresh and bright red, without a drop of blood.
Ms. M's face darkened briefly before she quickly smiled again. She bent down and picked up her severed arm with her other hand.
Lu Ze lowered his eyes, but his heart was filled with ecstasy.
Sure enough, she was injured!
Moreover, she was severely injured. Even the Shepherd sequence, known for its tenacious vitality, could not sustain her and could not heal!
Lu Ze recalled the strange things he heard from Ms. M the night he drank the "Listener" potion. Her body was like a broken doll that had been temporarily glued back together, constantly tearing and repairing itself.
With her so badly injured, my chances are even better!
Lu Ze encouraged himself in his heart.
Just then, he heard Ms. M's gentle voice:
"I've become like this all because of you."
what?
Lu Ze couldn't help but look up and see Ms. M holding the severed arm, her face showing no anger.
"Forehead."
Lu Ze felt a chill run down his spine. He had almost forgotten that it was he who had used a Level 1 sealing artifact to stab Ms. M into the body of the True Creator, triggering an explosion that had left her in this state. But in other words, the fact that she hadn't died after all that meant Ms. M was truly difficult to kill.
However, even if it's difficult to kill, we must kill it. If we can't kill it the first time, we'll kill it again.
"Don't be embarrassed, I'm just stating the facts."
Ms. M said nonchalantly, picking up her severed, white arm and placing it against the cut surface. A moment later, her arm was restored; she could move her fingers and all functions returned to normal.
"On the contrary, I should thank you."
Thank me?
Lu Ze felt that Ms. M's brain seemed to have been blown up.
Ms. M's golden eyes stared intently at him, that same burning gaze returning once more. She smiled, and before Lu Ze could show any aversion, she lowered her head, picked up the small black bottle from the ground, and placed it in Lu Ze's hand.
"Find the altar the witch prepared, and collect all the life force and resentment she gathered, understand?"
She said it gently but with an unquestionable tone.
"OK."
Lu Ze nodded.
"As a reward, I will give you some valuable knowledge of the occult, the kind that ordinary extraordinary beings don't usually have access to," Ms. M promised him again. "Or, it's not impossible that I can help your sister become an extraordinary being."
After putting away the small bottle and having lunch, Lu Ze boarded a trackless carriage and returned to Blackthorn Security Company.
"Lu Ze, have you rested enough? Why are you here again this afternoon?"
In the hall, Klein said in surprise when he saw him.
A madman is urging me on; I can't sleep anymore.
"I'm a bit concerned about the case's progress, so I came to check on things," Lu Ze smiled and asked, "How's it going? Have you found the target?"
Hearing him ask this, Klein shook his head. "Not yet... but there's not much left in the area, we'll definitely find it today. Oh right, Leonard said he has a new idea to report to the captain, do you want to go listen?"
"OK."
Lu Ze was eager to find the witch as soon as possible, so naturally he wouldn't refuse.
Together they stepped over the partition and into the captain's office, where they saw Dunn comparing two pieces of paper. One of the papers was from Luzer, a portrait he had drawn of the suspect; the other was an arrest warrant with a photograph of a man on it.
This person has a round face and a smile, and doesn't seem to have anything to do with the wanted poster.
Wait a minute, these two paintings seem a bit similar.
Lu Ze's expression changed slightly. Could it be that this guy is a male-to-female transmigrator?
Moreover, how did Leonard discover this?
He glanced at the handsome "Midnight Poet," whose disheveled hair gave him a unique air, but whose attention was now entirely on Dunn across from him.
Dunn looked at the two pieces of paper, pondered for a moment, and slowly said, "So...you think these two might be siblings?"
Eluzer was speechless, noticing a rare look of helplessness on Leonard's face.
