Chapter 3 The Heiress Who Was Rejected from the Engagement
Chapter 3 The Heiress Who Was Rejected from the Engagement
As the man's presence swept past her, Ling Yi heard Zhou Ziheng succinctly utter two words to the manager who rushed over like a man on fire: "Investigate."
At the same time, Ling Yi breathed a long sigh of relief when she saw her quail-like sisters.
The terrified girls were eager to leave the horror movie set, so they said goodbye and left, giving Lingyi a mournful look before they went.
You knew someone was coming and didn't even let me know. How could you be so mean?
Ling Yi said innocently, "I thought you sensed it."
Shi Ling rolled her eyes: "Do you think we have eyes in the back of our heads?"
Look how angry he is, his voice is almost cracking.
Ling Yi could only gently comfort her: "Don't be angry, I'll ask you to be my bridesmaid again next time I get married?"
Are you happy to start two jobs at once?
Shi Ling: "..."
She remained silent for a while, then stomped away in her high heels, her thumb still sticking up high from a distance.
Lingyi was truly impressed today.
This line of thinking is even more bizarre than Qi Qingran's brain that got smashed!
In the distance, the manager, who was nearly scared out of his wits, and Zhou Ziheng repeatedly assured him, as if they were going to extend the investigation to all the suspects' entire families.
This type of crystal chandelier has a counterweight measured in tons, so it's impossible for it to fall down for no reason. What could possibly be causing this?
He gritted his teeth and said, "Don't worry, I definitely will..."
He was halfway through his sentence when he noticed the smile on Zhou Ziheng's face and was taken aback: "What's this...?"
Are you furious?
"Hurry up and investigate, don't delay Miss Ling's next wedding." Zhou Ziheng waved to the manager to get busy and then greeted President Ling, who had rushed over.
"I am very sorry for today's accident." He said in a tone that showed little remorse, "I will definitely give President Ling an explanation."
Ling glanced at his wife and daughter in the distance and gave Zhou Ziheng a wry smile: "To say something you may not like, the fact that the light fell down really gave me a huge sense of relief."
He was just about to kill that brat when he got his comeuppance. How can this not be considered the cycle of karma?
Unfortunately, this outburst cost Mr. Zhou a lot of money.
Zhou Ziheng smiled nonchalantly: "It's a blessing in disguise. Being able to vent President Ling's anger is a blessing for this lamp."
He has another event here in a couple of days, and who knows, it might be aimed at him. Qi Qingran is just taking the blame for him.
Thinking of this, he said to the person behind him, "Send a bouquet of flowers to Young Master Qi tomorrow."
He paused for a moment and chuckled softly, "If you revive them, I'll give you lilies; if you don't, I'll give you chrysanthemums."
"You're quite the comedian." President Ling forced a smile and waved to his wife and children in the distance.
Rubbing salt into the wound—it's obvious that President Zhou is siding with their family, so he has to get his wife and children to show their support.
"I'm sorry to have troubled Mr. Zhou today. I came over to say hello to everyone." He spoke with a heavy heart.
The silly girl had grown tired of Mr. Zhou a couple of years ago after overhearing a few scraps of information about the business. But things in the business world are never that simple. Cooperation and competition are just the norm.
He just hoped that none of them would be disrespectful today.
Ling Yi is so well-behaved, how could she not give her face?
She simply said politely yet distantly in front of her elderly father, "Thank you for your trouble, Uncle Zhou."
President Ling: "?"
He looked at his daughter with a subtle expression. Had she taken the wrong medicine?
"Uncle Zhou just told me to call him that." Ling Yi calmly admitted Zhou Ziheng's bad behavior, and the subtle expression on her face when she looked at Zhou Ziheng was hard to tell how much of it was tattling.
Faced with President Ling's expression that seemed to say, "Why are you bullying my silly girl?", Zhou Ziheng calmly retorted, "I was just joking with Miss Ling because I was afraid this little accident would frighten her."
He dismissed a life loss as a minor accident, his nonchalant words revealing that he was no pushover.
Thinking about this guy's past, President Ling was terrified for a moment, but then felt relieved.
Zhou Ziheng, who doesn't eat human flesh only because of prions, how could he possibly care about a junior whose life or death is unknown?
This guy is too dangerous. After repaying this favor, I should probably stay a little further away... Huh?
Before President Ling could finish his thought, he saw Zhou Ziheng tilt his head and look at his daughter.
I must say, that move was quite playful?
Zhou Ziheng had been stared at by Ling Yi for quite a while, and asked the somewhat sly young lady with great interest, "Miss Ling, why are you looking at me like that?"
Ling Yi wondered where he was supposed to die; he seemed quite lively and energetic now.
Moreover, it's strangely annoying.
For a moment, Ling Yi understood why the original owner disliked him; this guy had an air of treating everyone else as less than human.
Don't be fooled by his ever-smiling face; the way he looks at people is no different from how he looks at wooden stakes on the street.
As someone with eyes, Ling Yi hesitated slightly: "I don't really want to lie."
Zhou Ziheng asked in surprise, "Did I ask you to lie?"
He's not some kind of villain who would split every earthworm in two.
This is what you said.
Ling Yi chose to be obedient and honest: "You're not lying, you really are quite perverted."
The way he looked just now definitely didn't seem like a good person.
Zhou Ziheng raised an eyebrow and nodded seriously: "Who says otherwise? Everyone praises me as an honest person."
It looks pretty, but the needles inside are quite sharp.
"So now you're lying."
No normal person would praise him like that.
Zhou Ziheng felt a little itchy, so he raised his hand and gently touched the small crown on Ling Yi's head: "You guessed right, but there's no reward."
Seeing that the father had shielded his daughter behind him, Zhou Ziheng didn't press the matter and said with a smile, "President Ling, please go ahead with your work. Excuse me."
Seeing that the menacing figure had walked away, President Ling said irritably, "Why did he touch you?"
Why are you so handsy?
"How old is he?" Ling Yi asked a completely unrelated question while watching Zhou Ziheng's retreating figure.
“30…28,” President Ling replied subconsciously before saying, “It’s none of our business if he’s the same age as Laozi. Daughter, you can’t even handle Qi Qingran, so let’s not even think about something this difficult!”
Ling Yi gave her bewildered father a strange look and said, "You're lying too."
Based on Zhou Ziheng's bone development, he should be close to 31 years old. Clearly, President Ling's previous answer was correct, but he changed his answer.
So, do people really care a lot about age as they get older?
"Well, let's not meddle in other people's business!" President Ling grinned awkwardly.
The child is still young and doesn't know about the past, so he can't reveal anything.
What if his naive daughter goes around making a fuss about it?
Revealing Zhou Ziheng's past wounds is like an old man hanging himself because he's tired of living.
The elderly father quickly changed the subject: "Let's not go through with this wedding. Change out of your clothes and get some rest."
Ling Yi blinked: "Qi Qingran..."
She was a little uneasy because she hadn't seen him die with her own eyes.
President Ling scoffed, "Why bring him up? Who knows, he might die before he even gets to the hospital?"
Ling Yi wholeheartedly agreed: "He had better be."
Otherwise, she would have to accompany him on his journey again.
