Chapter 30 Inquiry
Chapter 30 Inquiry
"What incredible luck!"
Chen Hongzhi picked up a token from the ground, his eyes filled with surprise.
Even the usually stern Chen Hongming showed a slight smile.
They entered the foggy area early in the morning.
After a whole day of trying, I still hadn't gotten anything.
Chen Hongzhi was exhausted and his energy was depleted, so he simply plopped down under a tree.
Chen Hongming persisted, and seeing Chen Hongzhi sit down, he no longer held back and sat opposite him.
But as soon as he sat down, Chen Hongming felt something sticking out under his buttocks. He reached down and touched it, only to find it was a corner of the token.
The two quickly dug away the soil and collected their first disciple token.
"It's a coincidence. I didn't even look when I sat down. Fourth brother, all we need to do next is find another token."
"No problem, Second Brother, I've figured it out."
Chen Hongzhi took a sip of water and pulled out a meat pie from his pocket. "The teachers at Mozhu Academy are all about surprise. We searched carefully but found nothing, but now we've casually sat down and gotten a token. If you ask me, we should just forget about finding the token and treat this as a trip for sightseeing."
"play?"
Chen Hongming shook his head. "Fourth brother, luck won't always be on our side. This token was just a coincidence. It won't be so easy to find another one."
Chen Hongzhi did not argue, but simply sat quietly.
After resting for a while, the two set off again.
Chen Hongzhi walked casually ahead, while Chen Hongming was extremely nervous, looking around anxiously.
Leaves, grass, burrows.
Chen Hongming carefully inspected every place they went.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, Chen Hongzhi said he was tired, so the two climbed up a big tree to rest.
This was a method that many test takers came up with at the camp.
The two slept for an unknown amount of time. When Chen Hongzhi woke up, his vision was still blurry, and he saw something waving around in front of him.
He rubbed his eyes. "Second brother, stop fooling around. I want to sleep a little longer."
Chen Hongming was startled awake. "What am I doing?"
"Hmm, isn't this our token? Why are you putting it in front of me?"
Chen Hongzhi grabbed the object that was swaying in front of him and turned to look at Chen Hongming.
Chen Hongming pulled out the token they had received yesterday from his pocket. "You mean this? Hmm?!"
Chen Hongming was shocked.
Isn't it said that finding a disciple's token is based on strength? How come it's become based on luck here?
The first token was dug out by simply sitting down somewhere randomly.
The second token appears automatically when you wake up.
Chen Hongzhi grinned from ear to ear, "Hahaha, Second Brother, I knew it! We're just here to have fun. Good luck is more important than anything else."
"And I have a feeling we can get another token."
"How could that be? You've already gotten it once or twice, do you really want to do it a third time?"
Chen Hongming made it clear that he didn't believe it.
Luck is something you can't see or touch. He thinks that getting two tokens is a blessing from heaven, but wanting a third one is just wishful thinking.
"Let's go. Now that we have two tokens, we should leave the fog area as soon as possible and confirm our enrollment status with the teacher."
"Of course, I'm not greedy."
The two jumped down from the tree, determined their direction, and headed towards the camp outside the fog.
After walking for a while, Chen Hongzhi suddenly rubbed his eyes.
"Second brother, look over there, isn't there something floating around?"
"What is it?"
Chen Hongming immediately tensed up, but when he turned around, there was nothing strange about it; it was just a piece of red cloth.
"Fourth brother, you're so paranoid. One day you'll scare me half to death. Hey, where are you going?"
As he spoke, Chen Hongzhi walked toward the fluttering red cloth.
Chen Hongming hurriedly followed.
But when he followed, he saw that Chen Hongzhi was holding a disciple token in his hand.
"Second brother... do you think I might be the chosen one of our Great Liang? I get a token just by sitting down to rest, lying down to sleep, or even walking around."
"What are you thinking? If you're the chosen one, then I'll be sweeping through the ages. Hurry up and put it away, and try to read fewer stories in the future."
"Wait a moment!"
Just then, a voice pierced through the mist.
Immediately afterwards, three figures appeared.
The three men, dressed in black, were the three Xiang brothers who had come down from Tiger Mountain.
Xiang Hesheng looked at the disciple token held in Chen Hongzhi's hand and said sternly, "Put down the token and leave, and I may spare your lives!"
"It's someone from the Xiang family!"
Chen Hongzhi and Chen Hongming exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with fear.
A martial arts family is not something to be taken lightly.
If you don't provoke them, maybe nothing will happen.
But if they were to clash, no matter how many lives a family or household had, it wouldn't be enough to kill them all.
Although the imperial court and government are currently exerting some pressure on martial arts families, the pressure is limited.
Even if they can't kill you face-to-face, they have plenty of ways to make your whole family die a violent death.
"Second brother, what should we do?"
Chen Hongzhi knew that begging for mercy was useless at this point, so he could only look at Chen Hongming with helpless eyes.
Chen Hongming shook his head.
This disciple token is precious.
But the lives of the two brothers were more important.
In particular, they also carried their father's expectations as they entered the Mozhu Academy.
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
After considering it carefully, Chen Hongming said, "Fourth brother, put the things on the ground, let's go!"
"Walk?"
Chen Hongzhi was surprised at first, then agreed, "Okay, Second Brother, I'll listen to you."
Chen Hongzhi slowly squatted down and reluctantly placed the token on the ground.
"Young Master Xiang, we have placed the token on the ground. Please keep your promise and spare our brothers."
"No problem, no problem."
Seeing that the two were sensible, Xiang Hesheng showed a satisfied expression and said, "Alright, you can leave now."
"Thank you, Young Master Xiang."
Chen Hongming pulled Chen Hongzhi back slowly, then suddenly said to He Sheng, "Wait a minute."
The two stopped, secretly on guard.
Do you know someone named Chen Hongzhi?
Chen Hongzhi looked completely bewildered. "Huh?"
"What do you mean 'ah'? If you know someone, you know them; if you don't, you don't. Can't a grown man just be straightforward?"
Xiang Hesheng grumbled, "Fine, I suppose you don't know him, but since you're sensible, I'll give you a heads-up. If you run into Chen Hongzhi, avoid him as soon as possible. That guy killed fourteen Skin Refining Martial Artists and found over twenty disciple tokens; he's not as easy to talk to as I am. Get lost!"
Chen Hongzhi looked completely bewildered. "Huh?"
Chen Hongming was also clueless. He pulled Chen Hongzhi behind him and said, "Young Master Xiang, we don't know what Chen Hongzhi looks like or where he comes from. If we see him, we should avoid him."
"I don't know, I just heard it from someone else. Anyway, just be careful."
"There's still a day and a half left before the three-day deadline. Hurry up and search; you can still find the token. Go!"
Chen Hongming waved to He Sheng and quickly left with Chen Hongzhi.
Once they were far enough away, Chen Hongzhi couldn't help but speak.
"Second brother, what exactly happened?"
