Chapter 28 Strange Beast Intestines
Chapter 28 Strange Beast Intestines
A tremendous force struck, and Luo Sifan and Xu Huanzhen were thrown into the air, soaring into the void. The power of the rules around them was raging and chaotic. In their great shock, they were unable to unleash even a fraction of their power.
Suddenly, the raging torrents slammed them together, pulling them into a tight, huddled ball.
Fortunately, in this life-or-death situation, neither of them had time to be embarrassed. They closed their eyes and channeled their spiritual energy and sword energy into their bodies to protect their vital points before leaving the rest to fate.
His five senses failed him; he lost his sense of up, down, left, and right, and even lost his perception of time.
In a daze, the two were suddenly slammed into solid ground. A sharp pain shot through their bodies, and they rolled several times before being stopped by a solid object.
The surrounding forces of law stabilized rapidly amidst the tremors, and the two's senses gradually returned to normal.
Luo Sifan shoved Xu Huanzhen away with a hint of disgust, dusted himself off, and stood up with a frown.
Having survived a near-death experience and now with a beautiful woman in her arms, Xu Huanzhen, whose heart was just beginning to flutter, was bruised and humiliated by Luo Sifan's disdainful behavior, and sat there in a daze.
Fortunately, it was pitch black all around, so the two couldn't see each other's faces. The air was still filled with a strange smell, which quickly swallowed up the lingering fragrance in Xu Huanzhen's nose.
Luo Sifan felt around, but the ground he touched was neither rock nor soil. When he pressed down with all his might, he felt a slight bounce.
A series of inexplicably piercing noises and a strange, chilling feeling occasionally seeped into Luo Sifan's soul from his fingertips, making him feel extremely uncomfortable.
Xu Huanzhen snorted coldly, putting her displeasure behind her, and stood up to explore on her own.
A cold, white light bloomed in Xu Huanzhen's hand, clearly visible within a foot, reflecting Xu Huanzhen's somewhat sinister, stern face.
The place where the two were standing was a round cave passage about four or five zhang high, with both ends being pitch black and deep.
"The forehead bead of the Black Swamp Horned Python?"
Luo Sifan glanced at the small, white bead, about an inch in size, that was glowing in Xu Huanzhen's palm, and said softly.
There are many beads that can glow, but the one that is so round and white, with a rhythmic fluctuation in the intensity of light, is the one that Luo Sifan can think of: the forehead bead of the Youze Horned Python.
"Miss Lin does have some knowledge."
Xu Huanzhen gave a cold compliment, then drew a three-foot-long slender sword from her waist and swung it at the rock wall beside her.
The sword flashed without a trace, leaving only a series of rustling sounds as it fell, without even leaving a mark.
Xu Huanzhen sheathed his sword, his expression still cold, but the shock in his heart lingered. Normally, when he used his full strength, the sword energy in his hand could shoot out several meters, shattering gold and jade.
Now, the energy flowing through the sword only causes it to shimmer with faint light here.
Luo Sifan couldn't tell that Xu Huanzhen was going all out; he was pondering the strangeness of the place.
“The power of the rules here is extraordinary. Young Master Xu, we have probably arrived in another world.”
As Luo Sifan pondered and deliberated, he muttered to himself.
The spiritual energy of Taiyi Qingxuan seemed completely unaffected here, yet there was a faint sense of familiarity that lingered in Luo Sifan's mind.
Luo Sifan pressed his full weight against the cave wall, his spiritual platform slowly rotating in his dantian, closing his eyes to capture a fleeting, faint inspiration. Even the scratching noise in his ears seemed to have a certain pattern to it.
"Young Master Xu, did you hear that? It sounds like a woman singing?"
Xu Huanzhen glanced at Luo Sifan, who was muttering to himself in the shadows, and shook his head. Holding the light pearl, he moved and practiced the Xu family's ancestral Foundation Building Technique within a small area of about a foot in size.
The power of the rules in this other world was too strong and unfamiliar. It seemed to him that only by starting from scratch could he have a chance to grasp the fleeting light of the rules.
A chilling and terrifying feeling washed over him again, and with Luo Sifan's full attention, the stimulation was even more intense.
As his spiritual consciousness trembled, as if a bolt of lightning had flashed by, Luo Sifan suddenly recalled the battle with Qi Xiu outside Yong'an City. A sinister spiritual energy surged into his meridians, which was transformed from Taiyi spiritual energy, the spiritual energy that Qi Xiu had practiced that day.
The barriers of otherworldly rules dissolved one by one before Luo Sifan, as if ice had melted and water had dissolved.
Luo Sifan's vision brightened considerably, and the gray cave gradually revealed its true form as if a veil had been peeled away.
Where his hand touched, a red glow, the color of flesh and blood, emanated from the area, and the undulating shape of the wrinkles reminded Luo Sifan of the stomach and intestines of an animal.
The sensation in his palm and the occasional tremors made Luo Sifan suddenly realize something. Then, a woman's mournful chanting reached his ears, causing his eyes to widen abruptly.
"Come on!"
Luo Sifan suppressed his nausea and, without saying a word, pulled up Xu Huanzhen, who was still focused on cultivation, and leaped towards the opening of the beast's intestines.
"Hello! Hello!..."
Xu Huanzhen's sword energy became chaotic, her limbs went numb, and she was helplessly pulled behind Luo Sifan like a kite, unable to struggle. As she opened her mouth, gusts of strong-smelling wind rushed in.
"Shut up!"
Luo Sifan's expression changed. He pulled Xu Huanzhen under his waist, muttered something, and then used his palm to firmly cover Xu Huanzhen's mouth shut.
Pressed tightly and fiercely by the warm, fragrant fat, Xu Huanzhen felt both ashamed and angry. She stared blankly at Luo Sifan's disdainful profile, gritting her teeth.
Having regained his Foundation Establishment power, Luo Sifan kept Xu Huanzhen under his thumb like a little chick, and walked through the beast's intestines on his own, paying no attention to Xu Huanzhen's expression.
The intestines are like a maze, with several entrances appearing from time to time.
Luo Sifan, however, did not hesitate at all. Like a seasoned veteran, he swept past the fork in the road without stopping.
The female voice kept repeating in his ears, and Luo Sifan listened intently for several times. The voice was mature yet carried a deep sense of intimacy, which made Luo Sifan believe what she said without hesitation.
After all, the text recited by the woman was the Dan script of Mount Moyun, which he was most familiar with in his previous life.
To maintain secrecy, alchemists from various schools in Yunzhou often adapted contemporary language and varied the intonation to create their own alchemical script, which they used to write their alchemical texts. Within each school, they communicated with each other in secret.
In Yunzhou, besides the three main schools and five sub-schools, many branches have sprung up, and the types of alchemical texts from each school are numerous.
Luo Sifan had seen most of the scripts in his previous life, but the script he used most often was the Dan script, which he learned from Mount Moyun.
Following the woman's chanting, Luo Sifan headed towards the heart of the strange beast. When he encountered a fork in the road, he chose the leftmost intestine. Before long, the intestines of the strange beast beneath him widened considerably, and gushing, smooth mucus emerged from them.
A strong, unpleasant odor assaulted his nostrils. Luo Sifan simply tossed Xu Huanzhen into the Mirage Pearl, pinched his nose, slowed his pace, and cautiously made his way towards a huge cavern that shimmered with eerie light.
The slime underfoot accumulated more and more, and irregular, eerie undulations appeared on the surface from time to time, with a faint, ghostly light flickering within, as if something was wriggling and crawling inside.
Luo Sifan stopped, hovering a few inches above the slime, his eyes wide as he observed the undulating patterns within it, before slowly bending down.
With his sleeves rolled up, Luo Sifan held out one hand, quietly waiting and observing as he approached the surface of the slime.
With a soft "plop," Luo Sifan gritted her teeth and plunged her hand into the viscous liquid. A needle-like pain pierced her skin and went straight to her hand bones. She clenched her fist tightly and pulled her hand out despite the pain.
Luo Sifan extracted the slime from a foot-long, headless and tailless worm. Its plump body was almost transparent, and it twisted wildly in his hand. It was slippery and tough, and quite strong. It almost broke free from Luo Sifan's tightly gripped palm.
