"Bang!" A loud noise came from outside the door.
Everyone inside was startled. Mei Qing, who was next to Madam Zhou, quickly went outside, and the others followed.
Before they even reached the door, they saw Zhou's father get up from the ground.
He first smiled at Madam Zhou and said, "Oh my, what a coincidence!"
Madam Zhou's eyes twitched, and she gritted her teeth, saying, "A coincidence?"
Mr. Zhou quickly shook his head, "No coincidence, no coincidence, I was just passing by and was about to leave."
Then he stepped forward and tried to pull Zhou Hanzhang along, saying, "How about I take Zhang'er to Tian'an Academy today?"
Madam Zhou, unable to bear it any longer, slapped the hand that was holding Zhou Hanzhang's hand. "Didn't I tell you to let Zhang'er and Bowen go together? I told you not to cause trouble!"
Mr. Zhou reluctantly withdrew his hand, muttering, "I was just afraid Zhang'er would be scared."
“Father, I’ll go with Bowen. I’m not afraid,” Zhou Hanzhang quickly said.
“That’s right, look, Zhang’er is scared. I’ll go with them. What can two kids do?” Zhou’s father pretended to be deaf.
Zhou Hanzhang could barely contain his eye-roll. "Father, I told you, I'm not afraid."
Madam Zhou gently pulled her father back and said to Zhou Hanzhang and Jiang Bowen, "You two should hurry up and not be late."
Seeing that his father was being held back by his beautiful mother, Zhou Hanzhang quickly pulled Bowen out the door.
Watching the two figures disappear quickly, Mr. Zhou said, "You brat from the Jiang family, don't get so close to my Zhang'er, stay away from her..."
“Ahhh…” Zhou’s father’s voice became shrill at the end.
"Madam, please be gentle! It hurts, it hurts..."
Mrs. Zhou tugged at Mr. Zhou's ear again, "It seems you haven't listened to a single word I've said all day. You might as well just throw your ear away?"
Mr. Zhou leaned his face against Mrs. Zhou's hand, trying to reduce some of the pressure from her grip.
The scene was rather unsightly, with Mr. Zhou practically lying on top of Mrs. Zhou.
He steeled his resolve and picked up Madam Zhou in his arms.
Mrs. Zhou: !!!
Terrified, she immediately let go of his ear and hugged Zhou's father tightly, yelling, "Are you trying to kill me?!"
Mr. Zhou picked up Mrs. Zhou, and the two pressed tightly together, his head resting right on Mrs. Zhou's chest.
He took a deep breath. "What perfume is Madam wearing today? I'm almost intoxicated by the smell."
The maids and servants around him secretly laughed.
Madam Zhou blushed deeply with embarrassment and reached out to grab her father's hair. "What nonsense are you spouting in broad daylight? Put me down right now, or what will the servants think of me?"
Mr. Zhou seemed not to hear him and refused to let go. He even carried Mrs. Zhou into the bedroom, holding her in one arm and closing the door with the other.
At first, you could still hear a few scoldings from Mrs. Zhou and coaxing voices from Mr. Zhou, but soon the voices changed, with heavy breathing mixed with faint moans and sobs.
The maids and servants outside seemed to be used to this scene and looked quite calm. Only one new maid sighed, "Master and Madam have such a good relationship."
Those around him nodded in agreement. "That's right."
Nearly an hour later, Mr. Zhou called for water from inside and carefully washed himself and Mrs. Zhou clean.
Madam Zhou sat on the bed with a rosy complexion. Although she was over thirty, she still had the shyness of a young girl. She glared at her father and scolded him in a low, hoarse voice, "Aren't you coming over to help me with my makeup?"
After eating and drinking his fill, Zhou's father looked completely satisfied.
He walked directly to the bedside, picked up Madam Zhou, and carried her to the dressing table. "Shall we do your eyebrows together, Madam?"
As he was about to touch her, Madam Zhou stopped him, saying, "You should leave now. At your age, doing these things in broad daylight, don't you have any shame? Luckily, Zhang'er went out, otherwise you would have no face left."
On second thought, Zhou's father already had little face in front of his children.
Mr. Zhou looked aggrieved. “My wife is truly heartless. She wants to send me away after she’s eaten and drunk her fill.”
Madam Zhou's face flushed red instantly, and she reached out to pull on her father's ear, but he dodged away.
“I have a lot to do today, so you can leave if you have nothing else to do,” Madam Zhou said again.
Mr. Zhou stepped forward and leaned his whole body against Mrs. Zhou's chest, inhaling her scent deeply.
He stood up after a while, kissed Madam Zhou, and said, "Then I won't disturb you any longer, Madam. If I behave well, please don't ask me to stay in the study anymore."
Without waiting for Madam Zhou's reaction, he quickly left the room.
Madam Zhou dressed in front of the mirror, a slight smile playing on her lips, and gently shook her head.
Zhou Hanzhang and Jiang Bowen arrived at Tianan Academy.
There were many parents at the entrance, bringing their children in with them. They were carrying large and small bags of things inside.
Although there were many people, it was still relatively quiet. It seems that families that can educate children to attend Tianan Academy are not ordinary families.
At least in terms of character, they are all up to standard.
Everyone says that the headmaster of Tianan Academy is a strange old man. Zhou Hanzhang had heard about him long ago, but had never met him.
Just as Zhou Hanzhang was thinking this, a disheveled old man walked up behind her. When he reached her, he tapped the ground with the smooth bamboo cane he was holding.
He shouted, "Make way, make way..."
Zhou Hanzhang and Jiang Bowen, as was their habit, stepped aside and looked up at the old man.
Looking at it this way, it's rather hard to put into words.
The old man looked to be over fifty, but he was full of energy. However, his clothes, though clean, were worn in a mess.
His face was thin and his eyes were deep and bright. When he looked at you, it was as if he could see into your heart.
When the other students saw the old man, they all stepped forward, saying, "Mr. Mo Xuan..."
Seeing that everyone was bowing to the old man, Jiang Bowen gently tugged at Zhou Hanzhang's clothes and whispered, "Brother Hanzhang, this is the dean. He looks very knowledgeable."
Zhou Hanzhang: ...
She really wanted to ask where she got the idea that the old man was so knowledgeable.
However, seeing everyone bowing to the old man, she followed suit, clasping her hands together in front of her chest and bowing to him.
As the old man passed by her, it seemed as if, whether it was her imagination or not, he glanced at her intently.
Leaning on his bamboo cane, he arrived at the entrance of the academy and waved to the students and parents bowing to him below. "No need for formalities, no need for formalities. You're here to study, don't bother with those empty gestures."
Then he looked at the parents around him, frowned and said, "You parents, your children are so old, and you still bring them to the academy. What kind of behavior is this?"
He whispered something to the page beside him, then turned and walked into the academy.
After he left, the page said to the students below, "Didn't you all ask around before you came? This year, Tianan Academy only allows students to enter alone. They can't bring pagers or clothes. No one else is allowed to enter except for students."
