Chapter 281 Thoughts
Chapter 281 Thoughts
A cloak was handed to him.
It appears to be a smooth and light satin fabric on the outside, but no one knows that it is sewn with fine and dense down inside.
Turner is not yet an adult, but his health is already showing signs of decline, and this cannot be known to the public.
There has never been a case in history where the previous emperor had not yet passed away before the next emperor had already begun to decline.
Turner donned his cloak and stood beneath the corridor, reaching out towards the bright sunlight. His face was expressionless, but he was deep in thought.
He didn't notice until he noticed the leaves rustling slightly beside him and a figure silently appearing behind him. His senses were not as sharp as his cousin Keslan's, and he didn't have any talent for martial arts techniques, so his servants would give him a signal every time they arrived.
"Your Highness, I have learned some things."
“It seems everything is going smoothly.” Turner smiled. “Well, you’ve personally taken charge, so it must have been a piece of cake.” To protect his frail body, this highly skilled secret servant rarely left the Ocean Empire for missions.
The servant paused noticeably, and though hesitant, he said, "That sea monster has the ability to bring the dead back to life; it can even nourish divine light. Your Highness, perhaps you..."
He even managed to find out about such secret matters; no wonder he personally went to the Aurora Empire.
Turner withdrew his hand and lowered his eyes: "I remember you weren't assigned to investigate this matter." The boy's voice was indifferent, as if the information he heard was of no help to him.
"Your Highness!" The servant wanted to persuade him further, but was silenced by his master's extremely cold gaze.
"Do you think I have any influence that can compare to the divine light deep within the temple?" Turner chuckled. "Just keeping it there harmlessly has already cost me a great deal of energy. If I were to use it to achieve my own goals, who knows how much more would be involved? My broken body isn't worth it."
"Your Highness, perhaps it's just a small matter for it," the servant said anxiously, inevitably adding more details. He even thought to himself, "That monster is about to become the husband of the Lord of the Ocean Empire; it's just being loyal to the Emperor, what's wrong with that?"
"Don't mention such thoughts again, don't even think about them anymore." Turner's gaze held a hint of sternness.
"The gifts were all secretly priced. Mu Liu should have been buried in the dust of history along with his ancestors long ago. His survival now is simply a mistake by Heaven."
"His connection to this world is so fragile that the collapse could come unexpectedly. Resurrection, reversing curses, reopening altars—aren't all of these going against the heavens? No matter how much fortune he has to squander, no matter how much of a god's favored servant he is, no matter how much of a demigod he is?"
Turner's eyes flickered: "It's not that I'm thinking of him. Others may not know, but you and I do. A thousand years ago, he carried the lives of countless sea people, city after city, innumerable numbers."
"Such an existence, once it attracts backlash and divine punishment, could easily have far-reaching consequences."
"It may not seem like a big deal now, but if we are all liquidated later, we don't know if we can afford the price."
The servant was surprised and couldn't help but look up at the not-so-tall figure in front of him.
This boy, who is not yet an adult, has unknowingly thought so far ahead; even Mu Liu probably didn't think of these things.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of Turner's many daily thoughts.
He looked at the young emperor in front of him, who was in a warm empire but was wrapped in a fur cloak, and felt boundless awe and heartache.
His Highness Turner's life has already been written; he will be remembered for eternity and become a wise and benevolent ruler of a prosperous era.
He was so extraordinary, so exceptionally talented, that he would surely be among the most distinguished rulers of the Yuria family. Yet his health deteriorated so prematurely...
"How is that one in the Forest Empire doing now?" A seemingly casual question lightly interrupted the servant's thoughts. He was startled and quickly lowered his head to answer respectfully.
"Your Highness, Lord Chen Xin has not taken any action, nor has she communicated with the outside world frequently. She only sent two letters to Lord Jiang Yu, and the rest..." He hesitated for a moment, "mostly to her husbands."
“Okay.” Turner rubbed his fingers together, not taking it too seriously. “Just keep an eye on her. Don’t restrict her too much. Transcribe every letter she writes to Lord Jiang Yu to me. Don’t miss a single word.”
"Yes."
“Change your address. She’s no longer a lord. She’s married. Just call her Madam.” Turner thought for a moment and said, “Before she married me, she was just unable to have children. There’s no need to keep her and her husband separated for so long.”
“I understand that Your Majesty is doing this for me, but I have no desire or need for love, and I don’t care about those things.” He turned around and smiled slightly at his servant.
"Instead of letting her idly ponder my thoughts, it's better to have her husbands take turns keeping her company."
"Just a little." His voice trailed off.
"I will never allow such scandalous behavior in the palace to happen again in my generation. I will absolutely not allow anyone to have a lover. Anyone who tries to have one will be killed on the spot."
Turner suddenly thought of a face as beautiful as a flower. The owner of that face appeared briefly, was of little value, and turned into a handful of mud. Having entangled with such a person was ultimately somewhat nauseating.
However, he concealed his disgust and impatience well, and said coldly, "This lady from the Forest Empire has a criminal record after all, and she still needs guidance and restraint in matters of the heart."
“Give her family and husbands a warning.”
"Yes," the servant quietly acknowledged. "What are your plans next?"
"I've almost finished with today's business." Turner adjusted his cloak and took the lead, walking in another direction.
There lies deep within the palace grounds, where a palace filled with exotic flowers and rare herbs is hidden away. Although the Ocean Empire is warm, it is no easy feat to maintain the vibrant and colorful flora of the Forest Empire in such a state.
It was once built by an emperor at great expense for his first lady; it was both a gift and a prison.
Everyone said that the Emperor doted on Lady Tinie, showering her with lavish gifts and favors. That's why Lady Tinie became arrogant and reckless, which fueled her greed and ultimately ruined everything.
Later, people said that this favor was just a way to lull Lady Tiny into complacency, and that the emperor used treasures and lies to build a cage that buried Lady Tiny's life.
Mrs. Tiny probably never knew, even on her deathbed, whether her husband's affection was genuine or not, when he started deliberately feeding her into a monster, or whether there was ever any pure love between them.
But now, the dying emperor has chosen to stay in the cage he built himself, waiting for his final moment to arrive.
"Let's go see His Majesty..."
