Chapter 763 - 756: Center of Attention (Part 5)

Because she needs to accompany Leng Yichen for a dinner engagement in the evening, Bai Yiran plans to leave work early to go home and check on the child. She also needs to dress up, as it’s not appropriate to attend such an occasion in a business suit.

Before leaving, Bai Yiran submits a leave request and posts an announcement in the company’s internal system, following all company rules and procedures. After completing these tasks, she leaves the office with her bag in hand.

However, she only takes a few steps before encountering Qi Hui in the corridor. Their departments are on the same floor, which means that even though Bai Yiran tries to avoid her, it’s inevitable that they would run into each other sometimes, like now.

Qi Hui stands across from Bai Yiran, glances at the bag in her hand, and says with a sarcastic tone, "What? Are you planning to leave?"

"Yes." Bai Yiran has no intention of dealing with her, and after giving a simple response, she prepares to leave.

Qi Hui, however, follows and blocks her again, "Bai Yiran, I’m talking to you!"

Qi Hui’s voice is loud, quickly drawing a crowd of onlookers.

This is quite something, the chairman’s lover and the CEO’s wife are clashing, it’s almost the showdown of the century!

Bai Yiran glances at the onlookers, frowning, "What are you trying to do? So many people are watching."

"Watching? Let them watch!" Qi Hui’s volume does not decrease; she’s been having a frustrating day. After being agitated by Wang Wei in the morning, she complained to Leng Liewei, hoping he would help her get rid of Wang Wei. However, Leng Liewei didn’t care and only said that the company is managed by Leng Yichen now, and he has no authority over personnel decisions.

Next, one of her projects was vetoed by Wang Wei, twice, in fact. Now, the employees in the marketing department have a significant bias against her. Some even bypass her and report directly to Wang Wei.

Qi Hui is furious, but there’s nothing she can do; Leng Liewei is not in the company to help her, and Leng Yichen simply wouldn’t interfere with her issues.

Seeing Bai Yiran leaving early, she feels the urge to vent all the frustration and anger she received today on her!

"Bai Yiran, as the HR Manager, your department is responsible for overseeing late arrivals and early leaves. I didn’t expect a manager like you to set such a poor example by leaving early so blatantly! Do you think that just because you’re Yichen’s wife, you can leave whenever you want? Remember, this is a company! It’s not a place where you can do whatever you want!"

As if to vent all grievances from the entire day, Qi Hui’s voice grows louder and sharper.

Bai Yiran quietly watches Qi Hui, waiting until she finishes speaking before coldly asking, "Director Qi, may I ask where you were earlier?"

"We’re talking about you now, don’t shift the issue onto me!" Qi Hui directly responds.

"Yes, we’re talking about me," Bai Yiran smiles, "If you were at your computer earlier, you would have seen that I posted a leave announcement on the group system."

Qi Hui is stunned, "Leave announcement?"

Bai Yiran scoffs, looking at Qi Hui as if she’s a joke, "Just as you said, this is a company, not my home. Everything is done officially here. I remember to maintain a good working environment, there’s a rule in the company that prohibits loud noises in office areas." Bai Yiran turns and waves to Xiao Dan not far away, "Xiao Dan, issue a fine to Director Qi and announce that in the group. As the global marketing director, she failed to set an example by causing a ruckus in the company corridor!"

Xiao Dan quickly nods, "Understood, Manager Bai!"
