Chapter 7526 Unreliable
Chapter 7526 Unreliable
The alien mastermind had become exposed! From the moment the Death Seeker completed its mission and exploded against the side of this giant shadowy form, the creature uttered a soul scream filled with so much power that it shook the spirits of almost every red human!
This was despite the duel protection offered by Casella's Command Field and the active defensive spell array!
Even Ves felt a little troubled by the uncontrolled pressure released by this hidden foe!
Although the phase whale-like creature still remained largely hidden, the tip of the iceberg already exposed the vast power of this hostile entity!
Yet despite the intimidating nature of this questionable powerhouse, the smarter among the soldiers quickly realized that their enemy had finally been brought into the open!
Before, the alien mastermind played the combined fleet like a fiddle. The former relied heavily on the concealment offered by the special environment to launch attacks on the red humans and restrict their ability to respond.
So long as the Premier Fleet and the Bluejay Fleet split their strength or made any mistakes, the hidden enemy could immediately launch a devastating decapitation attack!
This had been the primary reason why the Saint Commander Casella Ingvar refrained from taking any overt actions.
In this high-level game, Casella felt endlessly frustrated because the enemy had set up the battlefield in a way that ended up with her hands tied behind her back!
Yet as soon as the Amaranto Mark III unexpectedly evolved a brand-new ability that successfully removed one of the greatest advantages of her enemy, Casella's hands finally came free!
"Open fire." The Saint Commander ordered.
The warships of the combined fleet did so at once. Their guns had already been primed and ready to fire.
Although target acquisition remained difficult due to the interference produced by the dark miasma, their formidable guns could still lock onto the giant silhouette due to sharing accurate targeting parameters across the data link network.
A combination of low-tech visual tracking and high-tech deep data analysis made it so that the combined fleet not only gained the ability to see past the enemy's unusual camouflage techniques but also track this shadowy enemy's movements through the surrounding dark miasma!
Thousands of energy beams, plasma bolts and kinetic projectiles struck the bewildered target.
From the chaotic movements of this exposed enemy, it became clear that the enemy had clearly been caught off-guard.
It did not have a solid game plan on what to do after his enemies had lifted up the veil that hid his position!
The initial wave of counterattacks continually struck the enemy's shadowy exterior.
Though they did not appear to inflict much damage, each attack was empowered by at least a wisp of the true resonance of the Saint Commander.
The firepower of the Tortuous Scream was much fiercer in comparison!
The Omega Lasers and other attacks launched by the Enfeoffed bunker mechs struck with the force of a hundred expert mechs.
These blows generated significantly greater feedback. Every strike seemed to strip away at the layers of shadow and death that enveloped the mysterious enemy.
Unfortunately, their effectiveness remained limited. The exposed adversary possessed an unusual degree of resilience. The enemy constantly absorbed the surrounding dark miasma in order to reinforce its own defenses and repair the cracks.
The red humans needed to strike more decisive blows to end this existence!
"Rosa. Attack from the front. Tusa, circle around and cut off its escape route. Dise, remain on standby."
The Riot Mark III and the Dark Zephyr Mark III had already started to move forward as soon as they realized the presence of this major threat.
Casella's orders merely confirmed their decisions and encouraged them to go out on a hunt.
The First Sword Mark III also wanted to join in on the action, but the Saint Commander's orders forced the ace swordsman mech to let others take the lead.
Dise did not object too much towards this decision. There was no guarantee that the enemy that had just been brought into the open was the only alien powerhouse hiding inside the dark miasma.
The combined fleet still needed a guard in order to respond to any other unexpected surprises.
"Davia, what is your condition?"
The Amaranto Mark III looked much dimmer than usual after she had unleashed her Death Seeker. It was clear that her latest ability had not come without paying a significant price!
"WE ARE… EXHAUSTED." Saint Stark reluctantly admitted. "I KNEW THAT SEEKING OUT THIS DISGUSTING ALIEN VERMIN WOULD NOT BE EASY. I USED UP THE MAJORITY OF MY WILLPOWER. MY ACE MECH ALSO ENDURED GREAT STRAIN ON MULTIPLE FRONTS IN ORDER TO FORCIBLY COMPLETE THE FINAL ASCENSION RUNES IN ADVANCE AND TIE THEM ALL TOGETHER. BOTH OF US… ARE NOT MUCH USE FOR THE REST OF THIS BATTLE."
"Understood." The Saint Commander sighed. "Please stay in place in order to act as a deterrent against any unseen enemies that remain. You do not have to fight any further."
"VERY WELL. IT SHOULDN'T MATTER ALL THAT MUCH. MY DEATH SEEKER FAILED TO FIND ANOTHER ENEMY THAT IS JUST AS THREATENING AS THIS ONE."
The Amaranto's exhaustion put a damper on Casella's mood. The strong firepower of this ace marksman mech could have made the subjugation of the exposed enemy powerhouse a lot neater and more convenient!
The remaining ace mechs could only count on themselves to complete their current objective.
The Dark Zephyr Mark III had already overtaken the mysterious enemy and began to circle around at the rear.
In the meantime, the Riot Mark III tried to squeeze more acceleration out of its flight system just so that it could plunge its tier 3 Destroyer spear into the shadowy enemy as soon as possible!
Rosa Orfan had remained frustrated since the start of this alien ambush. She felt helpless to free the combined fleet from the trap and could do nothing while letting others be of greater assistance.
The constant waiting, the lack of action and the negative influence exerted by the dark miasma all stimulated the demon that had overtaken much of her soul.
The latest development should have pulled Saint Orfan from the brink of fighting another 'civil war' with the Prophet's Bane!
Although the Middle Demon constantly sought to undermine the human ace pilot and completely take over her body, the demon's irrationality and indiscriminate hatred against living occasionally made it possible for the two of them to unite against a third party!
Yet instead of temporarily letting go of its perpetual hostility against Saint Orfan, the Middle Demon refused to direct much hostility towards the shadowy enemy.
It instead continued to wrangle for control, causing Rosa Orfan endless troubles and distractions!
The flight trajectory of the Riot Mark III grew crooked. The acceleration of the ace spearman mech became sputtery and inconsistent.
"BEHAVE." The ace pilot insisted, but the ace mech that had already fused with her body rebelled against her firm attempt to impose control!
The Riot Mark III did not perform smoother because of this. Instead, the Prophet's Bane seemed to develop even greater animosity towards its eternal foe. The demon proceeded to attack Rosa's remaining soul even harder, thereby causing the ace mech to slow down even further!
Ves couldn't help but ground and palm his face at this shameful display.
As the first D-mech of this level, Ves often felt proud of this highly eccentric work.
When the ace pilot and the demon both reached alignment on their objective, they could combine their forces and perform far above their usual level!
Yet when they had become completely at odds with each other, the opposite occurred!
The current condition of the Riot Mark III effectively halved its performance if not more!
Whether the slight delay or antics made a difference or not, the shadowy enemy did not choose to confront the converging ace mechs directly.
Its shadowy form instead began to lose definition!
While the attacks from the warships continued to land on the blurring shape, they did not seem to inflict as much damage as before.
The more seconds passed, the more the attacks seemed to strike at clouds or miasma instead of anything solid.
The Saint Commander quickly realized what was happening!
"The enemy is making an escape! It is phasing out of his current location!"
Too late!
Before the delayed Riot Mark III could plunge its speartip into the blurring shape, the latter had finally faded entirely!
Rosa Orfan uttered a wordless cry of frustration as her disobedient D-mech struck nothing but dark miasma!
Gone!
The Dark Zephyr Mark III did not swoop in, but began to circle around in order to discern whether the strange enemy was not secretly trying to sneak away in a more conventional manner.
Sadly, the ace light skirmisher found no trace of the enemy. His Saint Kingdom scoured the surroundings, but Saint Tusa found nothing related to the enemy.
Not even the formation anchors of the strange formation of deathborn remained behind!
The enemy completely managed to get away!
