Chapter 664: Su Qinglan’s Wicked Idea
Chapter 664: Su Qinglan’s Wicked Idea
Su Qinglan’s heart softened. She knew it. This entire mood was definitely about his brother. She didn’t interrupt, only nodding her head to encourage him to keep going.Rong Ye closed his eyes tightly. "Even though I have taken my revenge, and even though my brother is finally dead... my chest still feels completely empty. And... I really don’t want to go back to Fox Beast City."
His voice grew softer and softer with his last words, fading into a tiny murmur.
If Su Qinglan hadn’t been sitting right next to him, she wouldn’t have heard it clearly at all. But she understood exactly what was bothering him now. He absolutely dreaded the idea of returning to that city.
She looked at him, her mouth still completely filled with the large piece of meat she was chewing. She swallowed it down and said firmly, "Then don’t go. No wind in this world will ever take my husband away from me. I won’t allow it."
To prove her point, she immediately leaned backward, dropping her weight directly into his arms.
Rong Ye’s heart leaped. He instantly wrapped his arms around her, nuzzling his face deeply into her neck and shoulder.
"I won’t leave my female to go anywhere either," he murmured, a smile finally returning to his lips.
Still, he couldn’t completely hide the deep sadness lingering in his eyes.
Su Qinglan understood his pain completely. Fox Beast City was the exact place where he had lost his entire birth family. It was the place where he had been brutally hunted like a wild animal by his own elder brother.
But now that his brother was dead, Rong Ye was the only remaining successor of the Nine Tailed Fox bloodline of Fox Beast City.
She knew the citizens and elders of that city must be desperately searching for him to take the throne, but Rong Ye wanted absolutely nothing to do with it.
"So," Su Qinglan finally asked softly, "are the people of Fox Beast City bothering you?"
Rong Ye instantly sat straight up, his eyes widening in total shock. "Lan Lan! How... how do you know that?"
Looking at his silly, stunned face, Su Qinglan couldn’t help but chuckle. She proudly puffed out her chest and smirked. "I know everything. After all, am I not your goddess?"
Rong Ye nodded rapidly, looking at her with a look of pure, starstruck worship.
Su Qinglan hid her smile and continued, tracing the facts for him.
"So the people of Fox Beast City are bothering you, begging you to come back and lead them. But you don’t want to go back because that place holds too many terrible memories for you, right?"
Rong Ye nodded again, his eyes locked onto hers.
"And most importantly," Su Qinglan smiled warmly, cupping his cheek, "you don’t want to leave our warm, happy family here."
Rong Ye nodded a third time, looking at her like she was the answer to all his troubles. He felt an immense weight lift off his shoulders. She really, truly understood everything without him even having to explain it.
After a moment of silence, she suddenly tilted her head and asked, "How loyal do you think those fox beastmen are to you?"
Rong Ye looked at her, blinking. "What do you mean?"
Su Qinglan rested her chin on her palm, her gaze thoughtful.
"After all, those same people served your father. Then they served your brother. They have followed Fox Beast City for almost decades. So, would they truly be loyal to you?"
Rong Ye immediately understood what she was asking.
He nodded seriously. "Yes. Their loyalty is not directed toward a specific person, Lan Lan. It is directed toward the ruler of the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan. Whoever sits on the throne is their master. As long as that person is the legitimate ruler, they will follow without hesitation."
Su Qinglan listened carefully as Rong Ye continued, "The Nine-Tailed Fox Clan has always respected strength above everything else. If there are multiple heirs, the clan will never interfere in their disputes. In their eyes, whoever survives until the end is the rightful successor. That person earns the respect of the entire clan."
His eyes became distant as old, dark memories surfaced.
"That is why when my brother killed Father... and later killed all my brothers... no one opposed him. No one stopped him. Because according to the clan’s rules, he was the winner. He was the strongest. So he became the ruler."
Su Qinglan frowned slightly. It sounded incredibly cruel, but she understood that every ancient beast clan had its own laws of survival.
Rong Ye gave a small shrug, trying to lighten the heavy mood.
"It is bloodthirsty, but it is reality. Now my brother is dead. And among the direct bloodline, only I am left." Suddenly, a proud, beaming smile broke across his face. "And our son!"
The sadness from before instantly disappeared into thin air.
Like every proud father in the world, Rong Ye became incredibly excited the moment he mentioned his child.
"In the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan, only those with the terrifying talent can awaken all nine tails," he explained eagerly, his chest puffing out.
"Our son was born with all nine tails! He is a true genius, Lan Lan! Our little brat might become the youngest nine-tailed fox king in the clan’s entire history!"
Su Qinglan couldn’t help laughing out loud at his deeply proud expression. Anyone who saw him right now would never believe this was the same depressed, sighing Rong Ye from a few moments ago.
However, while Rong Ye was busy praising his son’s unmatched talent, Su Qinglan’s mind was already racing.
Suddenly, her eyes lit up. An idea...a very wicked, very good idea appeared in her mind.
"Rong Ye," she called out softly.
"Hm?"
"I think I have the perfect solution."
Rong Ye looked at her curiously. Before he could ask anything, Su Qinglan suddenly scooted her stool right up against his. She leaned toward his long fox ear and whispered a few words, a mischievous glint in her light green eyes.
The kitchen immediately became quiet as she laid out her plan. As Rong Ye listened, his eyes slowly widened. Then they widened even more. By the end of her whisper, his violet eyes were practically shining like bright stars.
"Lan Lan!" He almost jumped straight off his seat in excitement. "This... this is brilliant!"
Without any warning, he grabbed her face in his hands and began kissing her repeatedly. One loud kiss on her left cheek, another on her forehead, and another deep one right on her lips.
"My Lan Lan is so smart! Why didn’t I think of this before? This plan is absolutely perfect!"
The more he thought about it, the happier he became. The massive political burden that had been troubling him for days instantly vanished.
"Hahaha! Finally! That little brat can finally help his father carry some weight!"
