Harem Startup : The Demon Billionaire is on Vacation

Chapter 924: Disciplined

Chapter 924: Disciplined

Sira smiled sweetly. "Which would be messy.""Very messy," Lux agreed.

Yue’s face tightened slightly. "And if he somehow did?"

Lux’s smile thinned. "Then the Upper Realm might simply refuse to make another contract with the Infernal Realm."

The room fell quiet again.

That was the thing.

The brutal, ugly thing hidden under all the speeches and polite divine emails.

Lux wasn’t just a representative.

He was collateral.

Bridge.

Signature.

Insurance.

A demon who had somehow become acceptable enough to gods and angels that they would deal with him instead of shutting the door and setting the bridge on fire.

Sira lifted her head. "Lux carries the Infernal Realm’s reputation up there." Her tone was lighter than the topic deserved, but her eyes were serious. "Other demons tried. Believe me. We tried a lot."

She counted lazily on her fingers.

"Me. My dad. The king. Other Sin Lords. Envoys. Demonic scholars. Ancient lords. The occasional demon who swore he was ’different’ and then immediately tried to flirt with a seraph clerk."

Lux grimaced. "That one was embarrassing."

"He lasted eleven minutes."

"Generous."

Sira looked at Yue. "All rejected."

Yue’s gaze shifted back to Lux. "And you were accepted."

Lux’s expression became mildly pained. "I wouldn’t call it accepted."

Sira smiled. "They let you drink tea."

"That was a punishment."

"They gave you a therapist."

"That was also a punishment. Not to mention my therapist is Celestaria herself."

Yue suddenly paused.

Then she looked at Lux more carefully.

"Wait..."

Lux glanced at her. "What?"

"You are an incubus."

"Yes. Congratulations on noticing."

"And yet you never... flirt with them?"

Lux’s expression turned almost offended.

"Nope."

Yue blinked.

"No?"

"I smile. I laugh. I act polite." Lux lifted one finger. "I’m an incubus, yes. But I know when and where I should act like one."

His gaze shifted briefly toward the glowing celestial message.

"Up there? Not a good choice."

Sira’s smile widened.

Lux continued, calm and confident.

"I never crossed the line. Not once. No teasing beyond polite banter, no pheromone games, no charming clerks into giving me documents faster. Nothing."

Yue stared at him.

"That is surprisingly disciplined."

Lux smirked.

"I prefer alive."

Sira looked pleased with that.

Yue, despite everything, almost smiled.

Almost.

Then her attention returned to Kaelmor on the screen.

The king’s announcement had shifted into questions from infernal press. He answered with controlled authority, refusing to acknowledge market panic, refusing to admit risk, refusing to even say Lux’s name directly.

That was telling.

Very telling.

Lux watched him for a few seconds.

"But," Lux said, voice quieter, "there is another possibility."

Yue turned to him.

Sira’s fingers stopped tracing idle circles against his shoulder.

Lux’s eyes remained on Kaelmor. "The king himself may already be trying to cooperate with the old order of the Upper Realm."

Yue frowned. "Old order?"

"The factions that don’t like the current balance," Lux said. "The ones who think Celestaria, Selena, Vizreel, and the progression offices have become too flexible. Too tolerant."

His gaze flicked toward the mail. "If Kaelmor is reaching them, then this isn’t just about replacing me."

Sira’s expression darkened. "It threatens the current order."

Lux nodded. "Yes."

Yue’s voice lowered. "This is complicated."

Lux picked up his coffee again. "Yup."

Such a stupid answer.

So casual.

So Lux.

Yue stared at him like she wanted to shake him and respect him at the same time.

"But I need to go," he added.

Sira looked offended immediately. "You’re leaving me bored?"

"I’m going to a divine emergency meeting."

"So yes."

"Sira."

"What? That’s literally what I said."

Lux ignored her and turned toward the screen.

"System."

[Awaiting Command.]

"Tell Celestaria I will attend gladly."

Sira snorted. "Gladly?"

"I am being polite."

"You are lying."

"Diplomatically."

The system opened a response window.

[SUBJECT: Re: Formal Invitation (Urgent Private Meeting Regarding Interrealm Diplomatic Continuity)]

Dear Goddess Celestaria,

Thank you for your formal invitation.

I acknowledge the urgency and importance of the matter and will attend the private meeting at the Upper Celestial Office at the scheduled time.

Please inform Archon Vizreel and the attending council members that I will be present and prepared to discuss the continuity of existing interrealm agreements, diplomatic authority, and any related matters concerning the current balance between realms.

I will respect the formal nature of the meeting.

Regarding the coffee restriction, I object spiritually but will comply procedurally.

Sincerely,

Lux Vaelthorn

Chief Financial Overlord of Hell

Department of Infernal Finance & Interrealm Asset Management

Vault Nexus Prime, Sector 7 – Lower Infernal District, adjacent to the Lake of Tax Auditors

Sira burst out laughing.

Yue stared at the signature. "The Lake of Tax Auditors?"

Lux didn’t blink. "It’s real."

"That sounds horrifying."

"It is."

Sira wiped the corner of her eye. "Object spiritually but comply procedurally."

Lux lifted his cup.

"That is diplomacy."

The system chimed.

The message vanished, leaving only the market charts and Kaelmor’s face.

Lux leaned back again.

One hour.

He had one hour before walking into a room full of celestial officials, at least one Guardian of Balance, one terrifyingly polite goddess, possibly hostile council members, and absolutely no coffee.

The no coffee part still felt like the most aggressive move.

Yue studied him.

"You are truly going."

"Of course."

"You know this meeting may be a trap."

Lux smiled. "Maybe."

Sira tilted her head against him. "You know Kaelmor may use your attendance against you."

"Yes."

"You know the Upper Realm may ask you to choose a side openly."

Lux’s eyes gleamed. "Also maybe."

Yue’s gaze sharpened. "And?"

Lux looked at the royal chart, still falling.

Then the Shadow Corridor, still rising.

Then Celestaria’s sent message receipt, glowing faintly at the edge of his system interface.

"And," he said softly, "that means everyone is finally moving."

His smile returned.

Not incubus.

Not playful.

Greed.

Pure Greed.

"So now I get to see who is desperate enough to make the first expensive mistake."
