when morning came, chloe slowly opened her eyes.

she saw her lover's head buried in her chest, and he was hugging her in a loving embrace. seeing this, she couldn't help but smile, as she planted a kiss on his head.

his sleeper breaths felt a bit ticklish on her naked skin, reminding her of their night together.

since they had a task at hand in the morning, the two of them didn't do anything too tiring the night before.

even so, the two of them still shared an intimate moment together before going to sleep. as the sound of birds chirping in the windows reached her ear, chloe thought about the trial that they would be facing soon.

of course, they could have chosen to not take it and simply explore the sylvan realm. however, ethan believed that they would need the help of the firbolgs in the coming battles ahead.

although they didn't know what exactly they would have to face, he still chose to take the trial, not only for their sake, but for the sake of the firbolgs as well.

"you big baby. you're still not satisfied after last night?" chloe asked in a teasing tone as she lightly patted ethan's head. "it's morning, so we should prepare for the trial."

"ten more minutes," ethan replied and even playfully nibbled the pink tip inside his lips, making chloe feel helpless.

in the end, she allowed him to do what he wanted until he was satisfied.

ten minutes later, he reluctantly pulled back from that soft and fragrant place before kissing the young lady's lips, greeting her a good morning.

half an hour later, they left their room and met lady arawina in the living room, who was just about to go and wake them up.

"breakfast is ready," lady arawina said. "did the two of you have a good rest?"

ethan and chloe thanked lady arawina for her concern.

the two of them then held each other's hands as they walked toward the red gate together.

whatever lay on the other side, ethan would do his best to ensure that chloe would be safe from harm.

while he was confident in his strength, he was self aware and therefore wasn't overconfident.

he would choose to attack or retreat depending on the situation.

without any hesitation, the two teenagers passed through the red gate, leaving the sylvan

realm behind.

the great shaman then waved her hand, closing the red gate to prevent any accidents from

happening.

it had been hundreds of years since someone had challenged the trial of janvidr. not all firbolgs who challenged it were able to return.

the majority of them had failed, and some even lost their lives in the process.

it was a trial of blood, courage, and luck.

this was why those who managed to pass this trial were highly regarded by the sylvan clan,

and they believed the passers to be ones who were blessed by the world.

lady arawina knew that hiding in the sylvan realm would not keep them safe once the

invaders from the other world broke past the weave.
