Chapter 884. Behemoth, the Tyrant of the Undersea and the One Preparing for the Future
Haitai’s energy trembled violently.
Unlike other Awakened individuals, her power was derived from a Divine Beast named Haitai.
‘Why is Haitai trembling... in fear?’
Her Divine Beast was righteous and loved the truth. She didn’t know why it had chosen her, but the Haitai she knew would never show fear—not even in the face of absolute evil.
Clack, clack, clack!!
Yet, Haitai was indeed trembling in fear.
"Step back. It’s going to get messy."
Crackle!!
Davey held a crimson, azure sword in one hand and an enormous spear form in another, exuding an overwhelming aura. His power had grown even stronger.
Two years ago, she had seen him standing in the Red Void when she was summoned by her former master, the Ancient Dragon Arbit. That was when she had witnessed the full extent of his terrifying power.
Back then, he had struggled to control his overwhelming strength. Now, he had everything entirely under his command.
In murim legends, such beings were referred to as:
A sky above the sky.
A being beyond the heavens that humans could only gaze up at, existing in unreachable realms.
Amidst the dazzling light that made one tremble, she felt its power through the will of Haitai.
The bluish-red sword Davey was holding was terrifying enough, but if the immense power imbued in the golden spear in his right hand were to be unleashed into the ocean below—
She knew the entire region would be decimated.
Or worse.
"Wait!!" Kouna desperately cried out.
Despite her usual composure, she struggled to remain calm.
“I told you to step back.”
"You’re not going to throw that into the ocean, are you?! That’s too reckless! How is this any different from burning down your house to catch a cockroach?!"
The moment his lightning spear hit the water, it would unleash a catastrophe upon all of Japan. The waves would absorb all of the remnant power, producing a tsunami that would demolish the nearby coastal cities.
"The currents here flow from Southeast Asia toward the entire archipelago! If you throw that here—"
"Damn, you’re way too loud. Wait, look, what is that?”
As Davey pointed and glanced up in apparent surprise, she instinctively turned to look in the same direction. Using that brief moment, he hurled the crackling, golden lighting spear into the ocean below.
[Longinus Second Form]
[Nuclear Spear]
The space surrounding the spear warped into a perfect circle as it tore through the air and plunged into the water.
"No!!"
Kouna turned pale and froze in disbelief. To her horror, the golden spear had already left his hand.
Boom!!
The surrounding waters instantly evaporated as the tremendous force carved its way into the ocean, creating a gaping hole.
What followed was an eerie moment of silence. The cause of the forthcoming disaster had been unleashed upon the world.
Kouna, who had spaced out in abject terror, quickly regained composure and gathered her power. Even though she wasn’t strong enough to stop the calamity on her own, she couldn’t just stand still and watch it happen either. She knew countless people would die if she didn’t do at least something.
The surrounding waters began rushing to fill the hole, and the swelling currents soon churned at high speeds.
"You!!" Kouna shouted in frustration.
When she was about to interrogate and berate Davey for what he had done, he lifted the sword in his left hand.
Sling...
Despite there not being anything to cut, the chilling sound of a slash echoed out.
And then...
"My goodness...”
The blade energy spread in a massive circular wave, enveloping the ocean within several kilometers. It eventually collided with the advancing tsunami, consuming it entirely.
His sword, Super Ribbon, severed both physical and non-physical laws. As the power spread throughout, it suppressed the expansion of the ocean.
Kouna, stunned by the impossible sight, stumbled toward him. She locked her gaze on him and asked quietly, "Was this your plan all along?"
"I guess your prophecies didn’t show you anything about this?”
"Direct prophecies about you are impossible. Do you not realize how exceptional you are?" she sighed, exasperated. "You could’ve just used your red sword from the start."
She was right. He could’ve used that bluish-red blade. In response to her curiosity mixed with irritation, he casually pivoted on his heels before hoisting her next to his side like a basket of laundry.
As he leaped into the air, the island beneath him—already shaking from the shockwaves—began to crumble and sink into the sea.
Whoosh!!
Massive whiskers then began shooting up from the ocean, encircling the island in a circular formation.
Zzt! Ting!!
The golden spear he had thrown into the depths suddenly flew back out of the water.
And then...
Boom!!!
From within a massive column of water, the creature’s main body finally emerged.
It was colossal, its size easily spanning several kilometers as it rose from the depths of the ocean. Despite its immense bulk, most of its body still remained submerged, and the pressure it exerted was suffocating.
Kouna turned pale in its presence.
"Looks like we’ve got ourselves a big one!" Davey grinned, retrieving Longinus and storing it in his Pocket Plane.
‘It takes a real fisherman to catch a monster fish.’
Behemoth opened its enormous mouth wide, as if it was trying to swallow everything surrounding Davey. Kouna gasped in shock.
"A blue whale?!"
Though it somewhat resembled a blue whale, its size made any comparison meaningless. The massive tentacles that had surrounded them earlier were simply its whiskers. Each was powerful enough to ensnare and tear apart most monsters, but each of them was only a fraction of the Behemoth’s figure.
After looking at the Tyrant of the Undersea, Koona glanced at Davey, silently pleading for him to do something.
Without hesitation, he extended his hand, summoning dozens of golden cards into the air. The cards expanded into massive chains, each several meters thick, and began to bind Behemoth.
"Strange... It should be stronger than this, judging by that glowing stone..." he muttered.
Even though it was outside of its domain and couldn’t concentrate its power into a stone, he figured it should’ve been at least two to five times stronger than the Behemoth he knew.
‘I could use divine power to completely subdue it, but that would only burden Neltarid further. Ugh, what a pain...’
As Davey pondered, inspiration struck.
“That’s it.”
‘If it’s too much trouble for me to bother with... I’ll just have someone else do it.’
"Alright, your turn," he said with a grin, clapping his hands together.
Crash!!
The ocean parted, and the earth itself rose from beneath the waves. The Spirit Kings of Water and Earth, Ellaim and Gnoass, had appeared.
Gnoass had pulled the ground up to create an artificial island for its ascent. Caught by the sudden shift in terrain, Behemoth thrashed around in its shackles in confusion. But that wasn’t the end.
"Nothing beats ganging up and mobbing when it comes to raiding a boss monster.”
The sky tore open as a crimson bolt of lightning struck down, accompanied by the Groundburst Dragon stomping down on Behemoth’s head.
- Krrraaahhh!!
Groundburst Dragon Shandra Minea began charging its devastating breath attack on the island Gnoass had created.
Behemoth, seemingly startled by the sudden appearance of the two Mythical Beast Kings, began to thrash about. As the dumbest one, its language was closer to that of a wild beast than a typical Mythical Beast King.
"Hey, don’t move," Davey said mockingly as he tightened the chains.
But he didn’t stop there. One by one, he summoned additional helpers. Before long, he had two Mythical Beast Kings, five divine beasts, and two Spirit Kings in front of him.
Each exuded their own overwhelming power, converging on the subdued Behemoth. While no single Spirit King or divine beast could stand up to a Mythical Beast King alone, there was a famous saying that went along these lines—
"Confucius said it best," Davey remarked. “Nothing stands a chance against being ganged up.”
"‘Confucius never said anything like that!!” Kouna shouted.
Davey ignored her outburst.
"Hey everyone, make sure you leave it alive.”
[Contractor! There’s no need to call us for something like this!]
Davey casually picked his ear, unbothered.
"Do as you’re told."
[You—!]
Davey twirled Super Ribbon in his hand and began dealing with the enormous sea creatures that had surfaced due to Behemoth’s influence.
"Those can be killed outright. There’s no need for me to hold back,” he said with a grin. “I'll take down the minions, you guys take down the boss.”
- Wait—hold on, this is...
‘Even with only its instincts left, it lets out its thoughts when desperate, huh?’
The pitifully desperate cries of Behemoth echoed throughout the entire area.
