Chapter 566: Smooch
Chapter 566: Smooch
"There is a demon! There is definitely a demon!"Her voice cracked. The confident attitude she usually maintained had completely disappeared.
Seeing her terrified appearance, nobody mocked her. Not even Lana.
After all, anyone could see that Fay had genuinely been frightened.
Eventually, the group left the temple and gathered at a nearby intersection.
Everyone was debating whether they should return to their temporary base or continue searching.
At that moment, Lana suddenly spoke. "How about we continue searching a little longer?"
The moment those words left her mouth, Fay’s face darkened. She immediately stood up. "What?"
Disbelief filled her eyes.
Then anger followed. "I think she doesn’t care about me at all."
Fay pointed directly at Lana. "I’m starting to suspect she thinks I was lying from the beginning. That’s why she’s suggesting this."
Lana frowned. "No."
She shook her head. "Trust me. My instincts are telling me that something important is here."
Before she could finish speaking, Fay exploded. "I am scared!"
Her voice echoed loudly. "I am fucking scared!"
Everyone fell silent.
Even though they didn’t entirely agree with Fay’s behavior, they couldn’t deny that they were also frightened.
The atmosphere became extremely awkward.
Axel frowned. His gaze turned cold. Then he looked directly at Fay.
"If you’re here just to throw tantrums, then leave."
His voice was calm.
"I’ll personally escort you back."
The moment those words left his mouth, Fay’s eyes turned red. She looked deeply hurt.
"I never thought you would still take her side."
Her voice trembled emotionally. "Can’t you see her mistakes?"
Tears gathered in her eyes.
Meanwhile, Axel’s expression remained unchanged. "First of all, she never forced anyone to follow her."
His voice was firm.
"She merely proposed continuing the search. Everyone still has the freedom to decide for themselves."
Fay bit her lip.
Then she immediately countered. "If she leaves, you’ll follow her, won’t you?"
Axel didn’t deny it. "I will."
The answer was immediate. Fay laughed bitterly.
"Then what about the rest of us? We need your protection too. But all you think about is her."
A trace of jealousy slipped into her voice before she could stop herself.
The others exchanged awkward glances. Lana frowned slightly.
Then she looked toward everyone. "If you want to return, we can return."
Her voice softened. "I’m not forcing anyone."
She paused. "But for some reason, I truly feel as though we shouldn’t leave yet."
Before the discussion could continue, Axel finally made the decision. "Lana."
His voice became gentler. "I think it would be better if we return for now."
Lana hesitated. Then she reluctantly nodded. "Alright."
Soon afterward, everyone returned to their temporary base.
However, barely ten minutes later, something changed.
The atmosphere around the entire camp became heavier.
The surrounding negative energy intensified dramatically. Even breathing felt uncomfortable.
Fay, in particular, felt as though an invisible evil force was watching her from somewhere nearby.
The sensation made her skin crawl.
Finally, unable to endure it any longer, she rushed out of her tent. "Guys!"
Her voice echoed throughout the camp. "I think something is wrong!"
The moment she said those words, everyone immediately agreed.
They had felt it too. Meanwhile, Lana remained silent.
She simply stood there and looked into the darkness surrounding the camp.
’I’ve been telling all of you that something was wrong from the beginning.’
Unfortunately, when she had tried to warn them earlier, nobody had truly listened.
Axel’s voice echoed. "This place is dangerous; we should evacuate."
Unfortunately, he had said those words a step too late.
By the time they reached the location, a portal had already formed before them.
The moment Axel noticed what was happening, his expression changed.
Everything unfolded exactly as he had predicted. Without wasting even a second, he rushed forward and scooped up as many children as he could.
His strength as a spirit monarch was astonishing.
With a single movement, he managed to grab Richard, Layla, Betty, and several others under his arms before retreating.
Only Lana, who was near the entrance of that portal, was left.
The ghostly portal continued expanding outward, slowly swallowing the surroundings.
Lana’s heart skipped a beat. Fortunately, she had already activated a teleportation talisman earlier.
Before she disappeared, though, she heard Axel’s heart-wrenching cry,
"Lana! Watch out!"
The talisman resting against her forehead emitted a faint warmth, reminding her just how lucky she had been.
If she had reacted even a little slower, she would have been trapped inside the expanding portal. ’That was far too close.’
As she thought about it, she slowly stood up.
Mr. Crow, who had been perched comfortably on her shoulder, flapped his wings.
"Who would have thought your luck would be this terrible?"
His voice carried obvious amusement. "Out of all the places you could have visited, you just had to encounter one of those portals."
Lana rolled her eyes. "If that’s supposed to be a compliment, then thank you."
A faint smile appeared on her lips. "If it’s an insult, then remember this. I’ll pay you back equally one day."
Mr. Crow let out a caw that sounded suspiciously like laughter.
"Now, how to plan to return to your group?" He asked, and Lana sighed. If she wasn’t wrong, then... she was teleported at least 1000 km away from her group.
Thankfully, her uncle had taken others away, and with his cultivation, he might have pushed them away from danger, too.
Now she needed to find them.
Suddenly, she thought about something and snapped her finger, and the direction spirit appeared.
Directional spirit.
Maybe because Lucian wasn’t here, or maybe it was hiding its true color all along. Because the next second, it scooped and started to smooch Lana’s lips.
Lana: "..."
Mr. Crow: "..."
"What the fuck are you doing?" Mr. Crow shouted and started to attack the direction spirit, which finally backed away, but it was looking at Mr. Crow like it wanted to fight till the bitter end.
Lana coughed slightly and told the direction spirit, "Hello, can I ask for a favor?"
