Chapter 565: Danger
Chapter 565: Danger
Richard patted his chest. "You scared me half to death."Lana frowned immediately. "No."
Her expression turned serious. "There is definitely a ghost here."
The moment she said those words, several people became even more frightened.
Especially Fay. "Lana, shut up!"
Fay’s voice rose several octaves.
"Don’t say things like that! We can’t see any ghost!"
Then she stared at Lana suspiciously. "Why can only you see them?"
Her eyes widened. "Wait a minute. Do you have a Third Eye?"
Lana opened her mouth to answer. However, Axel spoke first. "Enough."
His voice instantly silenced everyone. The pressure radiating from him caused the group to stiffen.
"If Lana says she saw something, then she has her reasons."
No one dared to argue further. Although some remained doubtful, they chose to stay silent.
Eventually, the group decided they should leave and investigate somewhere else.
However, before anyone could move, Fay stopped them. "You can leave if you want."
Her eyes remained fixed on the temple. "But I’m staying."
She pointed toward the entrance. "Whatever is here is connected to our search."
Axel immediately grinned. "Now that’s more like it."
Without hesitation, Fay walked toward the abandoned temple. Seeing this, the others exchanged helpless glances.
In the end, they had no choice but to follow. As they stepped deeper into the temple grounds, a strange chill crawled across their bodies.
And all of them gradually began feeling the same thing.
It felt as though countless unseen eyes were silently watching their every movement.
Just as they continued wandering through the abandoned temple grounds, a sudden scream shattered the eerie silence.
"Ahhh!"
Everyone immediately turned toward the source of the sound.
Their hearts nearly stopped when they saw Layla stumbling out in another direction. Her face was pale as paper, her breathing ragged, and her entire body trembling uncontrollably.
Everyone quickly used their mystic energy to stop her and pulled her back.
"What happened?" Betty quickly asked.
Layla didn’t hide anything this time. She immediately told them everything that had happened. Turns out she kept on feeling as if someone was pulling her.
"There is definitely a ghost here!" She murmured.
"Yes, there will be a ghost, it’s a ghost zone after all, but still, you are a mystic cultivator, be braver." Fay snorted.
The moment she finished, everyone stared at her as though she were some strange alien.
Fay’s face darkened. ’Why are they looking at me like that?’
Although she wanted to argue, she ultimately swallowed her frustration.
’Forget it. I’ll deal with those idiots later.’
Before the atmosphere could become even more awkward, Betty wrapped an arm around Layla’s shoulder. "It’s alright."
Betty smiled gently. "We believe you."
Layla’s expression softened slightly. Meanwhile, Lana remained silent.
For some reason, the strange feeling inside her heart was becoming stronger and stronger.
It was almost as though something inside the temple was calling her.
Pulling her gaze toward it. Drawing her closer. When she looked at the abandoned temple, a strange sense of familiarity suddenly washed over her.
A chill traveled down her spine. ’I have definitely seen this place somewhere before.’
The feeling was fleeting. Before she could grasp it, it disappeared. "Lana?"
Betty called out. Lana blinked and returned to reality. Then she nodded. "Let’s go."
The group was preparing to leave. However, before they could do so, Fay suddenly spoke. "Wait."
Everyone looked toward her.
Fay crossed her arms. "I want to investigate a little more before leaving."
Her eyes flickered with unwillingness. "What if there’s actually a treasure hidden here?"
Seeing that she intended to remain behind, Betty immediately frowned. "Are you serious?"
Fay rolled her eyes. "What?"
Then her gaze landed on the others. "What are you all doing? Are you just blindly following Lana everywhere?"
She snorted. "She’s no different from us."
As she spoke, she straightened her shoulders.
"I’ll continue searching. If you want to leave, then leave."
With those words, Fay directly entered the abandoned temple once again.
The dark entrance swallowed her figure. Seeing this, Axel frowned slightly.
Then he calmly spoke. "Follow me."
Maintaining a safe distance from Fay, he led everyone inside. Meanwhile, Lana remained quiet.
Unlike Fay, she wasn’t interested in treasures. At least, not right now.
What truly concerned her was the strange feeling constantly warning her that something was hidden within the temple.
Then suddenly... Lana felt something tap her shoulder.
Tap. The sensation was light. Gentle. Yet it immediately sent chills through her body. She spun around.
Nothing. There was nobody there. Her heart sank.
Without hesitation, she raised her hand and created a protective barrier around herself.
A translucent shield appeared instantly. However, it was completely useless. Boom!
An invisible force slammed directly into the barrier. The shield shattered immediately. The sound startled everyone. "What happened?"
Fay’s face became deathly pale. The next second, before anyone could react, an unseen force wrapped around her waist.
Fay screamed. "Help me!"
Her body was suddenly dragged backward. The force was terrifyingly strong. She couldn’t resist it at all. Her feet scraped violently against the ground as she was pulled toward the altar. "No!"
The darkness behind the altar seemed to open like a giant mouth. Fay felt pure terror. The force continued dragging her toward one of the pitch-black side rooms.
Seeing this, Betty and the others immediately reacted. "Lana’s talismans!" Richard shouted.
Everyone quickly pulled out the talismans Lana had distributed earlier.
They activated them and threw them toward Fay.
Golden light erupted throughout the hallway. Several shrill ghostly screams echoed around them.
Unfortunately, the talismans only managed to slow the invisible force. They couldn’t stop it completely.
Fay’s voice became increasingly desperate. "Help me! Please help me!"
Tears streamed down her face. Fortunately, that short delay was enough. A powerful pressure suddenly descended.
Axel appeared. The others arrived alongside him. The invisible force instantly retreated.
Fay collapsed onto the floor. Her body was shaking violently. The moment she regained control of herself, she immediately crawled toward the group.
